Our children deserve a planet that is safe, healthy and prosperous. Before convening their consul meetings the Traditional Iroquois declared, "In our every deliberation we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." Let us embrace this policy in our daily lives.
The Earth carries wisdom far beyond the reaches of our minds, imagination and technology. While policy is important, it is also up to each of us to think about our own daily habits and the way we use our own personal resources. Dedicating ourselves to proper forethought and personal responsibility is what is needed. How we can honor the fact that our great Earth is borrowed from our children? What changes can we each make to act in a more sustainable way? How are we impacting the earth by our daily actions?
There are so many ways we can help support a sustainable world, from using wonderful new green technologies, such as hybrid cars, to simple acts of eco-awareness like recycling. The list is endless - what small thing can you do today?
