It took me all day to venture outdoors after a week of being housebound I managed to squeeze my now not so swollen foot into boot and trot , or rather limp down the road to Willys for some fresh fruit and veg and a dozen organic eggs. They only had medium , so there will be dilemma tomorrow , two eggs or one ?
I think it will be one. I had munchies today and just now succumbed to Abbas Senapsill , pickled herring in mustard sauce and potatoes left over from lunch. Wicked. I never crave herring . Weird.
One of my former students from Grafiska is working at Willys now. He was running his own company and supplementing his income by working all sorts of odd hours at Coop . Now he is studying Law and will be a lawyer in a few years time. Resourceful chap.
My favourite Rat wants to meet again. I was told I was a tough negotiator . Took that as a compliment. I was not aware.
Meanwhile back in the U.K , Roland’s funeral , bless him. May his soul rest in peace and have wild parties with the angels. I will remember him in his armchair at 3.am at one of R&R ‘s all night Christmas parties , smoking a big fat cigar, vintage cognac in the other philosophising with us while listening to Verdi’s Nabucco or Bethohven’s 9th A good man with a sense of humour .Not your typical conventional dad , that is why we as teenagers would always find our way to R& R’s place .
Another time I remember he played peace maker and used his powers of persuasion to get my mum to allow us to go to one of their parties . “ Don’t be so tough on your mum “ he told me in the car “ When women are menopausal they have these mood swings and become irrational “ lol I was so impressed.
