People all over the world should turn off their lights and electrical
appliances on the first of February 2007, between 1.55 pm and 2.00 pm in
New York, 18.55 for London, and 19.55 for Paris, Bruxelles, and Italy.
1.55pm in Ottawa, 10.55am on the Pacific Coast of North America. This is
not just about saving 5 minutes worth of electricity; this is about
getting the attention of the media, politicians, and ourselves. Five
minutes of electrical down time for the planet: this does not take
long, and costs nothing, and will show all political leaders that
global warming is an issue that needs to come first and foremost in
political debate.

Why February 1? This is the day when the new UN report on global climate
change will come out in Paris. This event affects us all, involves us
all, and provides an occasion to show how important an issue global
warming is to us. If we all participate, this action can have real media
and political weight.

Had an appointment with a specialist today about my right leg and knee - skiing injury from tears ago that is now giving me grief and left foot that I did in around New Years tripping over the phone causing lots of pain. Am still limping.

I don't know if it is just Sweden , but receptionists here are BULLIES ! Gruff. Rough . Loud. The'd serve better guarding the gates of hell.

Still, doc was nice. Apparently I've got a little arthritis on the inside of right knee , opposite the scar , and that is what is painful . The 7 cm screw that is in my leg is still there , doing its jpb properly , no worries .

Is there a cure for arthritis ? Alternative meds ? Is there anything that can melt it away ?

The foot will be fine in 2 months , doc said . I've cracked one of the small bones and pulled ligaments. He 's given me pain killers.I don't like taking pills - I suppose its ok for a month.

Bright spot of the day was when doc said he didn't think I was overweight !!! Bless him. Nice doc, makes up for the grumpy receptionists lol

Laundry day always does me in. Cos of my sprained foot and laziness, there's 2 months worth of laundry.

Should tell you that doing laundry involves several flights of stairs down into the bowels of the earth to the laundry room , heaving heavy plastic IKEA full of dirty clothes down down down into the murky depths of the underworld wooooooo Its dark and musty and smelly down there in the cellar. Neighbours have told me they've seen rats. Sometimes I think homeless people spend the night down there. Sad. Keys get pinched and we can't get in.

Well half of it is done now and my smalls are tumbling around happily in the drier , which is in my kitchen.

I'm glad I don't have to go down to the river ................
