Choices and decisions

by miramaze @ Friday, 18. May, 2007 - 17:59:18

I also have a decision to make

I've attacked the huge pile of laundry:)
Two machine loads are washing as I type.
Sheets and duvets.
Doing the laundry involves going down 4 flights of stairs in to the bowels of the earth - no lift.
Another pile of jeans, socks t-shirts ,knickers awaits.
Now .. I can either tackle that now or leave it till another day
I would like to have a clean pair of jeans the other things I can hand wash.
Decisions decisions ......
One more machine it is then :)
Clean jeans and undies win !
YEAHhhhhhhhhh :)

Odd socks

by miramaze @ Friday, 18. May, 2007 - 15:26:58

I've always wondered where all the odd socks go and then someone sent me a link to a website dedicated to " odd socks " hehe :)

I keep buying new socks and still end up with odd socks.
LAst week , I came up with a solution , which I shall pass on to you now.

Wear odd socks !

There are many sensible reasons why this is a good solution

- it's eco-friendly. You don't have to throw away socks just because you can't find a matching sock.
- decision to wear odd socks is stress and worry free. You take whatever comes and wear it
- It's time saving. You don't have to pair them up
- It could be a conversation starter . Why are you wearing one red sock and one black sock ?
- It's an excercise of will
- it's fun

There are probably even more reasons . feel free to add to this list:)

Dare to risk

by miramaze @ Friday, 18. May, 2007 - 14:28:46

If you 've read the previous post you'll know that there's risks and there are risks. You don't have to be stupid about taking risks ;) Our Albert was a very naughty boy !

"To try is to risk failure. But risk must be
taken because the greatest hazard of life is to risk
nothing. The person who risks nothing does
nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid
suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel,
change, grow, live, and love."

-- Leo Buscaglia

Daring to risk is an essential step to self
empowerment. This is the key to breaking out of stuck
thinking and behaviour. It is about breaking
through the comfort zones and barriers. It is about
experiencing new levels of mind and feelings. It
is about experiencing more life.

"A life spent in making mistakes is not only more
honorable, but more useful than a life spent
doing nothing."

-- George Bernard Shaw

"Only those who risk going too far can know how
far they can go."

The lion and Albert

and then ....

There's a famous seaside place called Blackpool,
That's noted for fresh-air and fun,
And Mr and Mrs Ramsbottom
Went there with young Albert, their son.

A grand little lad was their Albert
All dressed in his best; quite a swell
'E'd a stick with an 'orse's 'ead 'andle
The finest that Woolworth's could sell.

They didn't think much to the ocean
The waves, they was fiddlin' and small
There was no wrecks... nobody drownded
'Fact, nothing to laugh at, at all.

So, seeking for further amusement
They paid and went into the zoo
Where they'd lions and tigers and cam-els
And old ale and sandwiches too.

There were one great big lion called Wallace
His nose were all covered with scars
He lay in a som-no-lent posture
With the side of his face to the bars.

Now Albert had heard about lions
How they were ferocious and wild
And to see Wallace lying so peaceful
Well... it didn't seem right to the child.

So straight 'way the brave little feller
Not showing a morsel of fear
Took 'is stick with the'orse's 'ead 'andle
And pushed it in Wallace's ear!

You could see that the lion didn't like it
For giving a kind of a roll
He pulled Albert inside the cage with 'im
And swallowed the little lad... whole!

Then Pa, who had seen the occurrence
And didn't know what to do next
Said, "Mother! Yon lions 'et Albert"
And Mother said "Eeh, I am vexed!"

So Mr and Mrs Ramsbottom
Quite rightly, when all's said and done
Complained to the Animal Keeper
That the lion had eaten their son.

The keeper was quite nice about it
He said, "What a nasty mishap
Are you sure that it's your lad he's eaten?"
Pa said, "Am I sure? There's his cap!"

So the manager had to be sent for
He came and he said, "What's to do?"
Pa said, "Yon lion's 'eaten our Albert
And 'im in his Sunday clothes, too."

Then Mother said, "Right's right, young feller
I think it's a shame and a sin
For a lion to go and eat Albert
And after we've paid to come in!"

The manager wanted no trouble
He took out his purse right away
And said, "How much to settle the matter?"
And Pa said "What do you usually pay?"

But Mother had turned a bit awkward
When she thought where her Albert had gone
She said, "No! someone's got to be summonsed"
So that were decided upon.

Round they went to the Police Station
In front of a Magistrate chap
They told 'im what happened to Albert
And proved it by showing his cap.

The Magistrate gave his o-pinion
That no-one was really to blame
He said that he hoped the Ramsbottoms
Would have further sons to their name.

At that Mother got proper blazing
"And thank you, sir, kindly," said she
"What waste all our lives raising children
To feed ruddy lions? Not me!"

Friday

by miramaze @ Friday, 18. May, 2007 - 11:38:24

Pause to blog before going into town.
Mobile woke me up this morning wanting to be re charged. That bleep is insistant. I heard it even when it was several yards away in the hall. Like a child wanting to be fed waaah wahhhh ;)

Dream

I was in he US of A last night in someone's home. I had to leave and the woman was concerned she could not manage. I was telling her that all she had to do was to call the emergency advice service " samaritans " in the telephone directiory if anything happened that she could not deal with.

She picks up a book - we are looking through it until I reealise that this won't do - it's an ordinary book , not a directory.

I ask for a telephone book. I'm not familiar with the layout , as it is American , and start to flick through the pages. There are several coloured pages sections.

Then I have to leave , as I have a train to catch at 10pm. I hope the woman managed on her own. End of Dream.

Where do these thoughts come from ?
Right .
Best get dressed and be on my way
See you later
Bless you as you work and play today :)
