  • The Real Meaning of Halloween

The Real Meaning of Halloween ( By Starhawk ) http://www.starhawk.org/graphics/starmeijer2.sm.jpgGhosts and goblins, witches on broomsticks, pumpkins, candy and spiderwebs…it’s that time of year again. Halloween—probably every child’s favorite holiday, combining the irresistible attractions of dressing up in costume and eating candy.

But there’s a deeper spiritual meaning that underlies the holiday for Pagans and real Witches—those who follow earth-based Goddess traditions that predate Christianity. As we (in the northern hemisphere) move into the time of cold and the dark of winter, we celebrate our New Year, and honor both death and regeneration.

Ghosts and goblins, witches on broomsticks, pumpkins, candy and spiderwebs…it’s that time of year again.

In Northern Europe, Samhain (the Celtic term for Halloween, pronounced sow-in as in ‘sour’) was the time when the cattle were moved from the summer pastures to winter shelter. It was the end of the growing season, the end of harvest, a time of thanksgiving, when the ancestors and the spirits of the beloved dead would return home to share in the feast. Death did not sever one’s connections with the community. People would leave offerings of food and drink for their loved ones, and set out candles to light their way home. Those traditions gave us many of our present day customs. Now we set out jack-o-lanterns and give offerings of candy to children—who are, after all, the ancestors returning in new forms.

Death and regeneration are always linked in Goddess theology. Birth, growth, death and renewal are a cycle that plays over and over again through natural systems and human lives. Embracing this cycle, we don’t need to fear death, but instead can see it as a stage of life and a gateway to some new form of being.

So Samhain is a time to remember and honor those who have died, to celebrate their lives and honor their gifts, to tell stories about them to the next generation so their memory will not be lost. We set up altars in our homes, with pictures and mementos, and in my house, we like to invite friends and family to an ancestor dinner, where we cook their traditional foods and share our family stories.

Samhain is also a time for deep spiritual work. At this time of year, we say, “the veil is thin that divides the worlds, the seen from the unseen, the day to day from the mysteries.” In San Francisco, the Reclaiming tradition of Wicca sponsors a big public ritual, where we celebrate the renewal and creativity that emerges from the dark, with elaborate altars, dance, music, culminating in a spiral danced by more than a thousand people that honors the energies of rebirth and renewal.

Halloween, and our traditions, are much misunderstood. This year, when you hand out candy or shepherd your children through the streets, we invite you to remember the deeper meaning of the holiday: that death is no barrier to love, and every ending brings a new beginning.

  • We all shine on

Received a shocking text message from my friend Monica, mother of 13 year old Emil. I learned that Emil's best friend , Simon was killed in a tragic accident two weeks ago. I remember hearding it on the news and thinking how dreadful and tragic for all concerned. Simon's mum was giving him a lift home on the back of her bike when a bus ran into Simon killing him instantly.Mother was unhurt but severly shocked.Absolutely devastated.

Bless Simon as his light shines on.
Bless and comfort all who knew Simon and who's lives he touched.

    Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
    Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
    Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
    Yeah we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.

  • Personal Sovereingnty :experiencing the magic and miracles in your life

This is Message 47- Personal Sovereigntyhttp://www.morningmessages.com/images2/9.jpg from " morning messages" I found this one particularly relevant, ( The underlined bits are mine )

The key to experiencing the magic and miracles in your life is the level of allowing and the focused clear vibration that you are offering your reality. Since manifestation is always taking place in the lives of humans, the key to remember is to observe where you place your focus and your vibrational attention.

This observation will clearly show exactly what has been the focus and what has been the emotional vibration that has been offered by anyone into their reality. Most focus on what they "do not" want to unfold in their lives and reality, rather than focusing on the delicious unfolding of dreams and goals. Same process, every human is creating their personal experiences and drawing to them what they hold in their vibrational field.

The mass conscious grid holds the patterns of fear, worry, stress, and powerlessness. It is the evolution of each human to recognize that this grid does not belong to them. This grid of limitation, of fear, of mistrust and powerlessness is part of the matrix of the planetary hologame, simply that.

Once the individual human recognizes this illusion, these programmed beliefs, they can certainly and consciously make a shift to create and allow a different result. Each human is a multidimensional starbeing with the incredible ability which molds and sculpts their very existence.

In this hologame on your planet, humans have been taught they are at the effect of events; they do not have the ability or the skills to shift their lot in life. They are taught to vibrate, hold the pattern and hold the thoughts/emotions of unworthiness, impotence, lack and fear. Human are rarely taught or made aware of their incredible authority, their omnipotence, their personal power to bring into reality and manifest their highest vision and dream.

This is changing, this is shifting, this is the evolution of the human spirit awakening. Everyone is experiencing this change and this shift in how they view their reality. One by one each human is claiming their mastery, claiming their authority and stepping into their personal sovereignty. They are recognizing the truth that they are responsible, they hold the power to make an incredible difference in what they experience in the day to day unfolding in their lives. Joy, gratitude and appreciation are the keys to this power. It is all vibrations.

  • Shattered glass

    http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/1852337/2/istockphoto_1852337_shattered_glass.jpg

I knocked glass off my desk the other day and it fell and shattered in to millions of pieces.

They looked like diamonds on the floor.

I picked the big ones out and vacuumed up the rest and thought I had got them all , but no. Pieces keep turning up several feet away from the place where the glass hit the floor.

  • Meditation at midnight

    http://www.schoolofwisdom.com/horizon.jpg

    The sixth Communion is with

    The Angel of Peace,

    Whose kiss bestoweth calm,

And whose face is as the surface

    Of untroubled waters,

    Wherein the moon is reflected.

    I will invoke Peace,

    Whose breath is friendly,

Whose hand smooths the troubled brow.

    In the reign of Peace,

There is neither hunger nor thirst,

Neither hot wind nor cold wind,

    Neither old age nor death.

But to him that hath not peace in his soul,

There is no place to build within

    The Holy Temple;

For how can the carpenter build

In the midst of a whirlwind?

The seed of violence can reap

    Only a harvest of desolation,

    And from the parched clay

    Can grow no living thing.

Seek ye then the Angel of Peace,

Who is as the morning star

In the midst of a cloud,

As the moon at the full,

As a fair olive tree budding forth fruit,

And as the sun shining on the temple

    Of the most High.

Peace dwells in the heart of silence:

Be still, and know that I am God.

From the Gospel of the Essenes

  • Laid back winter Sunday

    A wonderfully laid back Sunday.

Woke up at 11 only it was 10 am :))

    Had breakfast

Replied to comments and read friend's blogs in Blogland

    Phone rings.
Telemarketing person : bla bla bla electricity...
Me: Electricity ? Oh yes .. I've got that. It's great I've got what I need. THank you very much . Bye bye .*puts phone downn quick*

    Seconds later phone rings again.
could it be marketing person again ?
No . :)) it's Irene phoning from Gothenburg and end up chatting for a couple of hours. It was one of those rare soul to soul meetings and sharings.

Doctor Doolittle 2 , with Ed Murphy is on the telly .
Nice Sunday entertainment. methinks and settles down to watch on the sofa, but I see half of it and fall asleep . zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I wake up to find myself in " Springville " and for a moment or two I am confused asthere is no Dr Doolittle there

It's dark now and I have to pop out to the shop for some supplies- otherwise no eggs for breakfast. Reluctantly drag myself away to put socks on and get dressed.

    Might see you later.
Hope you are enjoying your winter Sunday

  • One hour more tonight

The colours outside - silver water , orange, gold, red and green. ( forgot to take pics :( ) So much to take in during our time together. Hours whizz by.

We made use of the full moon energies and consulted the Goddess who had messages for us all.

Roman Juno,GreekHera, queen of the gods and mother of Hebe, Vulcan and Mars appeared for me and this was her message.

" You appreciate the benefits that come from confidence and authority
You project authority and security and inspire pride and appreciation. This is your time to shine and for your accomplishments to be recognised. You have an opportunity to help bring a group to a single, harmonizing focus. Social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time. You are being called upon to witness or facilitate the gathering of the collective mind into a single focal point.

An excellent opportunity to rally resources if you remain non-competitive.

Beauty surrounds you and is important to you.You are non- conformist , dare to go against the grain.Look at what you are already doing

Apply yourself for the sake of the collective good and maintain the kinds of high standards that inspire people.

Self-knowledge gives you personal power and wise judgement so that you can turn obstacles into stepping stones.

Believe in the inner voices of wisdom. They deserve your attention.
In the intuitive arts, one walks a fine line between self-delusion and inspiration. Trust Spirit, as Spirit entrusts you with an expanded view of your assignment. You are growing into your original nature and expressing it in the world. "

  • Alchemy

One thing leads to another. Once again the serpent has lead me to " The Alchemy of Dance " a very interesting article by Leslie Zehr

    http://www.alchemylab.com/AJV6N3%20Serpent%20at%20Dendara.JPG

Alchemy can take many forms. In essence, it is the process of transformation or transmutation. Like an algebraic equation it is very basic, yet fixed. As we insert an infinite number of variables, we arrive at infinite possible outcomes; yet all of them have passed through the same process or equation. The fact that it is so basic is what makes alchemy applicable to everything around us.

The period of time in which we are living is a very significant period in history. We are approaching the end of a great spiritual cycle . We are in the 'quickening' phase just before birth. People are going through huge spiritual transformations in order to prepare for this birth. It is only natural that many new forms of "alchemy" arise aiding us in this transition. Each individual constitutes a variable; using our equation, each person can attain the gold in their own personal way.

Alchemy need not be restricted to the lab; we can find it "in vivo" in all aspects of life. The Alchemy of Dance is a process of transformation by the transmutation of energy and spiritual awareness through movement. In this type of alchemy, the body, and more specifically the womb, becomes the alchemical vessel. This is merely the first phase of a larger process called the Universal Dancer, smaller cycles within a larger cycle creating the spiral to the infinite.

The last card of the Tarot, the Universe, is often referred to as the Universal Dancer . It is the point where we are fully integrated with all of life and dance with the Universe. In the Alchemy of Dance, the first stage of Universal Dancer, we explore the feminine side of this aspect. We do this by dancing the subtle earth rhythms and reconnecting with the divine feminine through Sacred Dance. The woman prepares her body to become the vessel, the primordial waters for birthing the masculine or manifested (Self/Horus).

The origins of Sacred Dance date back to the beginning of time. Most tribal cultures still maintain some type of Sacred Dance. It may be performed by shamans or tribal members depending on the intention behind the dance. Tribal cultures still maintain the connection to the earth. Whether it is conscious or unintentional, it still exists. Research has been done confirming the healing properties of this type of dance.

  • From my pagan past

Interesting Samhain information there in Mermaidstail blog

This time of the year, energetically is a fascinating, magical, mysterious time of the year , whatever name you give to it.

The feelings and thoughts that are aroused are archetypal. We are reminded of transition and separation and the illusion of separation. We respond with both humour and seriousness.

For me this time of the year is a bit like Avalon. Avalon is still there but we have lost the ability to see it and part the mists, The " other world " is still there , as always , only at this time of the year we are more in contact with it.

Today I am reflecting on my own Pagan roots. I grew up celebrating the old Latvian pagan traditions without knowing what lay behind them. My family scoffed at these pagan things but, they were, nevertheless, part of our culture, tradition and heritage, so they were observed in a way Christamas or Easter are observed by non- Christians.

Many of the elements of Halloween and Samhain are there I'm trying to remember. My memory is hazy.. but , even there the mist is lifting.
Going KEKATAS,( Cheka –tahs ) as it is called in Latvian,or Budeli was a major part of the whole winter season and of all its celebrations—Martini, Michaelmas, Meteni, and especially Christmas. Meteni was the last opportunity of the year to go kekatas, because this was purely a winter form of entertainment. The English counterpart to the kekatas is the mummers,( anyone know what mummers are ? ) while the Americanized version of the Celtic tradition is Halloween. The Meteni time of year also corresponds to the Mardi Gras and Carnival season, with all of its revelry, trickery and costumes.

Latvian kekatas’ costumes usually depict animals (wolf, goat, bear, horse, rabbit, heron, etc.), humans (the tall lady, the short man, a man dressed as a woman and vice versa, bear-tamer, gypsy, etc.) or common objects (bundle of straw, head of cabbage, moon, etc.). Sometimes death is also depicted, but usually the costumes do not depict gory or horrific monsters, as is common in Halloween celebrations. The main goal is to just hide your identity.

So here I am , a cocktail of all-sorts free to reflect upon and pick and choose my own identity. Sometimes exploring identity by the wearing of a mask or by wandering around in the amazing maze of reflective mirrors that is often called Life .

  • I wish I'd had my camera with me.

I wish I'd had my camera with me. She sat right opposite me on the train.Bright red coat, chest covered with " medals" all kinds of badges- mostly cats. She could have stepped right out of a Harry Potter film round glasses, colourful beaded earings and a knitted hat. Chirpy.

It wasn't long before she struck up a conversation. She liked my Indian scarf. I thanked her and told her I'd bought it in the market in Bradford,

Well , that did it , I could hardly get a word in edgeways after that. This lady was in love with London. She went there all the time. Her cats preferred food from Harrods; she'd got a Harrod's card, like Portobello Road and rattled on for the next ten minutes about this that and the other.. can't remember.. but she made me laugh.I was almost sorry I had to get off. A most unusual and entertaining meeting.

  • As the veil thins and night grow dark and cold

Leaves are falling off trees and there is a definite icy nip in the air.

Darkness falls and starts to shroud our world in mystery. We change our clocks next weekend and gain an hour's sleep
I have been dreaming intensively as the veil between our worlds gets thinner.

There is a full moon on Friday and the Goddess is smiling.

Samhain is approaching. A time when herds were gathered in and bonfires light during celebrations

Samhain is also known as Hallowmas, All Hallow's Eve, and Halloween. There are special energies around at this time. Opportunities and possibilities the Sorceress to create. The souls of our ancestors and angels look on,only too willing to help.

Symbols of the sabbat include the cauldron, mask, bonfire, and the jack-o'-lantern.
The colours most associated with Samhain are black and orange.

  • Leadership : midday mumbles

    What is real leadership ?

Is real leadership invisible, just empowering others?

I think real leadership is about empowering others and not about controlling or manipulating.

I think Invisible leadership is a possible choice for our future.

    Self empowerment.

Most people are not ready yet for an invisible leader yet.

The closest we have come is " fascilitator " or " guide ".

Can Christ, Mohamed, Buddha also be considered invisible leaders ?

Maybe these are names we attribute to our own inner leadership.

We already have our own personal built- in invisible leader inside of us, but how many of us trust and use this Self-managing leadership system ?

We depend on outside sources to lead us and control us and do our thinking for us. It's easier that way. If something goes wrong, then we know exactly who to blame.

For me , life is not about controlling my dark side , it is about using it as a sort of spiritual adversary to live and learn in Earth School,

Hmmm will continue to chew on this .

  • My "no plans " adventures today

Interesting what happens when you are open to whatever.

As I step outside the first person I meet is my neighbour Elizabeth her hubby and 15 month old baby. " I've seen you on Facebook " she tells me. What fun . Neighbours meet on the internet.

So where to ? Hmmm no plans is weird. No preconceived ideas. I let my body guide me - straight on ... right .. left .. ahhh we are moving towards the train station.

Train arrives. I have a quick flick through "Metro" Man has discovered a special kind of poop bag. poop in bag. Bag is impregnated with chemicals that render poop harmless.Bag can then be thrown into the sea or buried and in two weeks bag and contents are safely decomposed.

Turns out he is a coach and she is an economist and together they have an unusual project where they gather together curious people with the aim of pooling ideas. Would I be interested ? Hmmmm we exhange cards and telephone numbers. Weird. They seem friendly enough, but afterwards while waiting to but my bottle of wine I start to think. What if they are players or into something weird. Imagine turning up at their place and finding odd goings on+ lol my imagination runs wild .I buy my bottle of wine and leave.

Where to now ? Tummy replies with a rumble. Walking through the market my nostrils pic up a whole range of scents .. freshly ground coffee, chocolate , cheese, fish ,, food ....
    http://bp1.blogger.com/_oKQZLOi_sLQ/RxpsTp-fHhI/AAAAAAAABAg/AxjbeW-0AfQ/s320/DSC00022.JPG

My legs carry me towards an eatery. It 's packed there so I am joined by two young guys. We chat for a bit, I ask them how to get to MariaTorget as I am not so familiar with this part of town and they seem to enjoy helping me out. I'm enjoying myself. Only problem is that I'm feeling a little nervous and make a quick exit but not before flashing and smile and making eye contact with one of the guys who is quite attractive. Little thrills :))

On I go . STop a few times to ask for directions , just because I feel like it . Fun pretending to be tourist in my own town.

I pass streets and places I've never seen before http://bp1.blogger.com/_oKQZLOi_sLQ/Rxpsyp-fHjI/AAAAAAAABAw/6nQHIBGPeRo/s320/DSC00025.JPG
    http://bp1.blogger.com/_oKQZLOi_sLQ/Rxpskp-fHiI/AAAAAAAABAo/dMkCUQj_gJA/s320/DSC00023.JPG

and end up at MariaTorget at cofee bar I 've been to before. I order a café alongé - espresso + hot water - love the taste and I've not had coffee for 4½ months so this is a real treat and a really flaky crisp croissant. The butter crispy flakiness is divine. I sip my coffee , savour and enjoy.I've intsalled mself in a cosy corner by the window with an excellent view of people passing by as well as good command of what is going on inside the café.

    http://bp3.blogger.com/_oKQZLOi_sLQ/RxptWJ-fHlI/AAAAAAAABBA/cRsCIe2_fKk/s320/DSC00027.JPG

Again I get restless . Time to leave. I go outside and decide it's time to get on a bus and decide to get on the the next bus that passes. Only trouble is that there are no buses passing by lol :))

I make my way to the nearest tunnelbana. Get on the train and get off a stop later. I can get a bus from here. I cross over the road and see the bus- but it leaves as I approach. But, there is a number 53 standing next to it. I've never been on the 53 so I get on. Now is as good a time as any.

No sooner have I got on when I hear someone say my name - a friend I haven't seen for over a year. " I knew I'd bump into you sooner or later " he says. Weird. We chat about the book he is writing and catch up a bit. He tells me he's set up a website and says he will email me the link. Fun that. Chance meeting.

Friend gets off after 20 minutes , and I decide to carry on to Odenplan where I can take another bus that will take me right home, the scenic way :)

By this time it's dark and getting quite nippy. I call in at the shop for a few groceries on my way home - the handle of the bag breaks a few yards outside the shop so I have to carry it like they do on American films . Damn nuisance.

Once home .. a glass of wine while preparing food . cauliflower macaroni cheese with different kinds of cheeses and wholewheat pasta and cripsy topping. Turned out really yummy.

Film on the telly and now Alfie is on , with Jude Law.

so that , briefly is my day of no plans and following my nose.

  • Still here .... but not for long

Today is the day. I am about to do something that I've always wanted to do and never hgot round to doing.

I am going to follow my nose.

 I am going to step out of my front door with no other plan apart from this idea to follow my nose :))

This means that I will not know where I am going until I get there.

Armed with my travel card - I can get on and off buses and trains at will. when I like.

    Walk or ride,

Stop and rest a while or move around.

Will let you know how I get on .

Have a great Saturdayt everyone

  • Paradoxically.......

    http://www.melanievotaw.com/poems/419-Purple_and_White_Dendrobium_Orchid.png

Paradoxically, we achieve true wholeness only by embracing our fragility and sometimes, our brokenness. Wholeness is a natural radiance of Love, and Love demands that we allow the destruction of our old self for the sake of the new.

  • Back from the fair

    Trade fairs. Mixed feelings.

The seminars are quiet inspiring . I always learn something even if it is not directly related to the theme of the seminar.

The " market place " or stands are all the same. Bowls of sweeties , freebees, stocked up on ball point pens ;) , masses of literature and all your have to do is look a bit lost and someone will approach you and try to sell you something.

I'm so not a part of this world. But that's O.K. This helps me get clear about my values and what I want in life. Success for me is not about selling more or producing more or making piles of money. Success for me is about having peace of mind and good self-esteem. It's about feeling happy , having good friends and having time for myself - alone time.

Success for me is about a nice balance of energy exchange - energy in and energy out.Enough money come it to pay bills.Success is about quality of life and being happy with " what is ".

I am appalled by the way companies " milk" their employees for what they are worth. 25- 40 year intelligent capable career minded poeple think nothing of devoting their best years and potential to a company in exchange for big money.

But when they are all used up and spent , when they have nothing more to give they end up on the scrap heap. Human beings, unlike machines cannot be recycled either, can they ?

There seems to be a huge emphasis on PRODUCTS and very little on SERVICES. Once again the TANGIBLE instead of the INTANGIBLE.

It's so good to be home. Candles lit. Avocado and prawn starter, Pasta, Italian red .. and some really dark chocolate for dessert.

    There's a film on in a few minutes .................

    see ya

  • The veils continue to thin

    http://www.spiritlite.com/images/cocreation.jpg

    From Dr Meg's Newsletter :

    http://www.spiritlite.com/messages.php

"New frequencies are coming in as well as new symbols. Each has a purpose and a unique set of frequencies."

" The veils continue to thin, or as I say, the curtains swing open, then close again and until they stop waving from the movement, we are seeing people and energy waves, even some animals cross into our reality.

Imagine that since we are seeing them, they are likely aware of us as well! What a concept! This past week there have been "people" all over my house. Coming to my doors then disappearing. Huge waves of silvery energy moving through my house and across my yard. Unusual "knocks and bumps" throughout the house that are out of the norm. No, it isn't haunted, it is just that the veils are often that thin!  Others are describing similar experiences. There are new tones being heard and voices, music, crowds talking and more. If you are having these experiences, you are not alone! "

How do we adjust? How do we integrate the changes that we experience?
    http://www.spiritlite.com/messages.php

" Be discerning about everything, stay on that magnificent heart space, and know that it is all perfection!  "

  • Do you Kegel ?

    http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MCG/B979~Heart-Kids-Posters.jpg

Two most important muscles for great sex ?

The first one is the heart and it can be kept in top form by exercising your communication skills , sharing your real feelings, positive and negative with  your partner for a deep connection. When your heart is engaged, each touch is electric and it's easier to surrender to love and ecstasy.
    OOOH la la la .......

The second love muscle is the pubocoxxygeal muscle. Both men and women have pubocoxxygeal( PC ) muscles. The PC muscle is the one we use when we stop or interrupt the flow of urine.

In men a strong pc muscle gives superb ejaculatory control.

In women a well developed PC muscle gives easier access to orgasm territory and increases orgasmic intensity.

"Kegels" exercises can be done any time , any place

KEGELS ...KEGELS ...KEGELS ...  yeahhhhhh !

It really is well worth doing these exercises for your health and well being , Doesn't matter if your are sexually active or not and there's no harm in being  prepared  should the opportunity arise.

    " Statistics
    Blog Posts, Audience Numbers, Facts

Measuring an initiative like Blog Action Day is difficult. In 2007 we asked bloggers to register their blogs and a rough count of RSS subscribers. It is worth remembering that RSS subscriber numbers are only one half of the readership of a blog. Many and in some cases all of a blog's readership will simply be visitors to the site. The real reach of Blog Action Day is far greater than the number below.  "

TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE, BUT THE LEAST
    ROMANTIC SECOND LINE:

My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife:
Marrying you screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.

    Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
But I only slept with you 'cause I was pissed.

I thought that I could love no other --
that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's
empty and so is your head.

    I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.

My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe "Go to hell."

    a) Stay with the feeling ( Emotions ; here and now )

    b) Find the source or cause, heal or remove. (Analysis. Cognitive exploration.)

H's take on my IRRITATION yesterday lead to an awareness of possible addiction to the computer / Internet and the physical affect of this on my body.

I spend hours on the internet and my computer on various activities. True.

    I accept this.
Too much time ? Question. Is it ?

Some of that time is also spent thinking and reflecting while at the screen.

    Defence: It's pleasurable.:) It's satisfying .

    Yes,but drugs are.

    Does it control me ?

    Sometimes. Yes . Obsession.

Do I spend too much time there ?
Who knows ? If I wasn't doing this, what would I be doing?
    Who knows ?

There are physical consequences; energy drain.
I'm addicted to searching: to finding out .
Google, blogging and blogs satisfies a hunger; an emptiness , a void. is it bad`? It's educational

It can also lead to over overwhelm- I take in or allow in a LOT of information. Can it all be digested and processed?

well like a good tasty meal , you chew , you take your time, eat slowly , fresh wholesome food- no indigestion. Eat when stressed or angry - stomach ache and you get fat

O.K. What if I stay with the irritation , without thinking, just feeling ?
What has the IRRITATION to tell me about me.
WHAT is the message of my IRRITATION
What IRRITATES me ? (Requires list , maybe separate post ? )

MysticSaint sent me the following :

" Master of Great Silence whispers within:
    follow the path diligently
that leads to deeper and unknown trails
    into the Universe of Uncertainty.
take hand of the Master of Uncertainty
Who will lead you to the deepest forest,
leaving you totally bewildered and lost.
    immersed in total uncertainty
look nowhere to find a way out,
but leave all to Him Who brought you herein the first place.
    There is no other way.
for a split second, let not your heart sway.
be baffled but hold fast with total trust.
behold the mystical paradox that says:
    only (realizing) Total Uncertainty (within)
will take you to the point of Total Certainty. "

  • Blog Action Day: the prayer of my heart

    http://p.vtourist.com/2061965-Travel_Picture-EARTH_mother_EARTH.jpg

    A Prayer To Humankind
    A poem of the heart
    by Manitongquat

HEAR, O HUMANKIND, the prayer of my heart.

For are we not one, have we not one desire, to heal our Mother Earth and bind her wounds?

And still to be free as the spotted Eagle climbing the laughing breath of our Father Sky,

to hear again from dark forests and flashing rivers the varied ever-changing Song of Creation?

O Humankind, are we not all brothers and sisters, are we not the grandchildren of the Great Mystery?

Do we not all want to love and be loved, to work and to play, to sing and dance together?

But we live with fear. Fear that is hate, fear that is ambition, competition, aggression, fear that is loneliness, anger, bitterness, cruelty, fear that is mistrust. envy. greed. vanity. . . and yetfear is only twisted love, love turned back upon itself, devouring itself, hating itself, love that was denied, love that was rejected .

. . and love. ..Love is life - creation, seed and leafand blossom and fruit and seed, love is growth and search and reach and touch and dance, love is nurture and succor and feed and pleasure, love is pleasuring ourself, pleasuring each other, love is life believing in itself.

And life. . . Life is the Sacred Mystery singing to itself, dancing to its drum, telling tales, improvising, playing and we are all that Spirit, our stories all but one cosmic story that we are loved indeed, that perfect love we seek we are already.

That the love in me seeks the love in you, and if our eyes could ever meet without fear, we would recognize each other and rejoice, for love is life believing in itself.

O Humankind, we must stop fearing life, fearing each other, we must absolutely stop hating ourself, resenting Creation .... Life,O Humankind, life is the only treasure. We are the custodians of it, it is our sacred trust.

Life is wondrous, awesome and holy, a burning glory, and its price is simply this: courage . . . we must be brave enough to love.

Hear my heart's prayer, O Humankind, trust in love, don't be afraid. I love you as I love life, I love myself, please love me too, love yourself, for perfect love, as a wise one said, casts out all fear.

If we are to live, there is no other choice, for love is life believing in itself.

Above all, let us set the children free, break the traps of fear that history has fashioned for them, free to grow, to seek and question, to dance and sing, to be dreamers of tomorrow's rainbows, and if we but give them our trust they will guide us to a New Creation, for love is life believing in itself.

  • Psychosynthesis : Psychology with a soul

    http://www.freewebs.com/artofbeing/PsEggDiagram.jpg

"Let us feel and obey the urge aroused by the great need of healing the serious ills which at present are affecting humanity; let us realize the contribution we can make to the creation of a new civilization characterized by a harmonious integration and cooperation, pervaded by the spirit of synthesis."

    -- Roberto Assagioli

I first stumbled upon Psychosynthesis in 1996 . I was going through some kind of " crisis of meaning ". Interesting how "when the student is ready the teacher appears ". I was depressed, burnt out, physically and emotionally exhausted yet a little spark inside me urged me to explore this method, both as a way out through the darkness and as a platform on which to start re- buiding my life.

Psychosynthesis is transpersonal psychology, the human journey toward personal wholeness.

Conceived by the Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli (1888-1974), http://www.freewebs.com/artofbeing/RobertoAssagioli.jpg who studied under Freud and Jung and took what he learnt further.

Psychosynthesis is often called " psychology with a soul " and is concerned with the realisation of individual potential. Psychosynthesis takes a holistic approach to the human being including body , feelings , mind and soul.

This is how Roberto Assagioli describes psychosynthesis:

" Psychosynthesis is a method of psychological development and self realization for those who refuse to remain the slave of their own inner phantasms or of external influences, who refuse to submit passively to the play of psychological forces which is going on within them, and who are determined to become the master of their own lives'.

    -Roberto Assagioli

  • Ants and elephant

    http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:zIOmgO0aZwDjGM:http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/photos/sevcik/asian-elephant--elephas-maximus-1.jpg

Once upon a time there were ants and an elephant.

The ants worked hard day and night and built fanatstic ant hills and the little ants were so proud of their work. :)

The was a problem though, for ever so often , an elephant would come by and trample all over their home on their way to the watering hole and so the little hardworking ants would have to have to start all over again.

    awwwwww :(

Well this went on for a while until one day they got fed up and the leader ant called all the ants to a meeting.

" Now listen here chaps , this thing with the elephants has gone on far too long. Something must be done."

" we quite agree , " said the ants " but what can we possibly
do against the big elephant. It's hopeless "

" We'll kill him, that's what ! said the leader assertively

" if we all work together, we can succeed, and besides I have a cunning plan." :) tonight when the elephant is asleep, we'll creep up on him, all of us .. and when I give the signal you all sting as hard as you can - that should do it! "

Right .. said the ants and so it was that when night came and the elephant lay down to sleep, the army of ants crept up and onto the unsuspecting elephant. The leader raised his hand and gave the signal NOW !!!!! and they all stung as hard as they could

    But ..

The elephant rose and shook himself and all the ants fell off

    Awwwwww :(

Only ONE ant remained, and his name was Emil and little Emil was hanging on to the elephant's neck with all his strength and far far below cama a cry from all the ants in unison

    " STRANGLE HIM , EMIL .. STRANGLE HIM !!!! "

  • With Burma in mind

" We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism and democracy.

The time for the healing of the wounds has come.

The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come.

The time to build is upon us.

We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation.

We succeeded to take our last steps to freedom in conditions of relative peace. We commit ourselves to the construction of a complete, just and lasting peace.

We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people.

We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines in this country and the rest of the world who sacrificed in many ways and surrendered their lives so that we could be free.

Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward.

We understand it still that there is no easy road to freedom

We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success.

We must therefore act together as a united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, for the birth of a new world.

Let there be justice for all.

Let there be peace for all.

Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.

Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves.

Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.

    Let freedom reign.

The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement!

  • Our deepest fear

" Our Deepest Fear" by Marianne Williamson
from A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles

    How am I radiant ?
Shadows; what areas of my life could do with more light and radiance ?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Note: This inspiring quote is taken from Marianne Williamson's book A Return to Love. Though often quoted as part of Nelson Mandela's moving inaugural speech, "Our Deepest Fear" does not appear in the speech.

  • Rest well

" Rest Well " says my horoscope. It was for yesterday but I read it today after sleeping for 11 hours !

" Your body may feel taxed and you may notice a difference in your energy as a result today "

    It continues with advice :

" set the intention to get plenty of rest and eat well.

Before you begin your day, you can make a list of things that help you recharge, such as a yoga or tai chi practice, a walk on the beach, meditation, or bodywork.

Treat yourself to whatever it is that revives you and while While you are doing this you may want to take note of the way your body feels "

Interesting. In my dream last night:

I see the Prof as a child, around 10. He has been playing at someone's house. I 'm making an omelette and ask him if he's eaten. I feel I have been neglecting him. I hug give him a hug but he doesn't respond very much and suddenly I feel very guilty. It's as if we have lost contact.

My subconscious is telling me something. I must take better care of my inner child. And how do I do that ? What does mt inner child want and need ?

" Remind yourself that by relaxing and taking care of your body, you not only feel a sense of calm but you also feel more energetic."

  • " Please use your liberty to promote ours" plea from Burma

We are privileged indeed. We live in peace and enjoy comforts that many others do not.

I thought you'd like to know about this campaign: the European Union will decide this Monday, 15 October, whether to adopt stronger sanctions and incentives to press the repressive Burmese military junta into dialogue with the opposition. Avaaz.org is mobilizing citizens of every EU country to send messages to their foreign ministers urging them to take action. These sanctions won't hurt ordinary people--but they will strengthen the democracy movement in Burma.

  • Re 15th October

I have to say this .

Thank you dearest blogland friends for your encouragementand supoort.

I'm starting today  well.. why wait till the 15 th ? Our environment needs our contribution today .

    Here and now.

My plan is to write about how each of us can improve our psycho - spiritual environment.

I sincerely believe that it all starts with a thought, a belief.

The good news is that we can CHOOSE our conscious thoughts and therefore make a difference , not only to ourselves and our own personal happiness, but to the rest of the world, since we are ALL in relationship with each other.

When you are happy ... people around you are happy .
    Hapoiness is contageous.

It all starts with AWARENESS .. that is the first step.

May we ALL follow our BLISS .

  • Spank me happy ?

    Spank me happy ?
    No way

    Arbeitet machts frei?
    Not for me

I'm reviewing my beliefs about work again
this sounds more like it :

Work should be in order to live. We don't live
in order to work. That shift in awareness is
    necessary.?

    -- Matthew Fox

What are your beliefs around work?
Do you believeit's necessary to work hard to earn a living?
    Nopain, no gain?
Do you believe a woman's/ man's work is never done?
or That play is a waste of time?

Whose beliefs are they , anyway -  yours or someone else's ?

Learning to let go of the ways we inadvertently
and unconsciously contribute to our own pain is
the key to finding radiant physical and emotional
    health.

    -- Ingrid Bacci

To do great work a man ( or woman ) must be very idle as well
    as very industrious.

    Absolutely , Samuel Butler

    Burma activist 'dies in custody'

    http://news. bbc.co.uk/ 1/hi/world/ asia-pacific/ 7038921.stm

A Burmese pro-democracy activist arrested during anti-government protests last month has died in custody, a rights group has said.

Win Shwe was arrested on 26 September near Mandalay, as the government began its bloody crackdown on the protesters.

The National League for Democracy (NLD) member died during questioning, the Thailand-based Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said.
His death raises fresh concerns for the hundreds of people still in custody.
The 42-year-old activist died "as a result of torture during interrogation" , the AAPP said.

"His body was not sent to his family and the interrogators indicated that they had cremated it instead."

Bless his soul, he is at peace now.
Bless all the monks in Burma for their courage and generosity of spirit.
Bless the perpetrators, may their hearts open to love and compassion,
Peace prevails in our hearts and souls .
    And so it is
Love and light to us all.

  • I've registered for Blog Action Day , 15 October 2007

    Blog Action Day

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind. In 2007 the issue is the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

We’re looking for bloggers of all nationalities and backgrounds, writing about all topics to join in. Here’s what you have to do:

    Publish on October 15th
Publish a post on their blog which relates to an issue of their own choice pertaining to the environment.

For example: A blog about money might write about how to save around the home by using environmentally friendly ideas. Similarly a blog about politics might examine what weight environmental policy holds in the political arena.

Posts do not need to have any specific agenda, they simply need to relate to the larger issue in whatever way suits the blogger and readership. Our aim is not to promote one particular viewpoint, only to push the issue on the table for discussion. So write in whatever way suits your readers and your blog, just relate it back to the environment and make sure it goes up on October 15th.

    Other things you can do
You can also participate in Blog Action Day by posting a banner on your site (http://blogactionday.org/promote) or by donating your day’s blog earnings to an environmental charity of your choice.

    Register your blog
We are keeping track of all the blogs that have committed to participating on BlogActionDay.org and it would be very helpful for you to register your blog at http://blogactionday.org/commit

At this time the form is only available in English, but the form fields are as follows:

    1 - Blog Title

    2 - Blog URL

3 - Approximate RSS Subscriber Number
(This will not be published. It is used to generate an approximate ‘reach’ for Blog Action Day. Simply enter an average, recent feed count from Feedburner or similar service. If you don’t know the audience size, just enter ‘0′. )

    4 - Your Email
( You will ONLY receive two emails. The first will be two days prior to Blog Action Day 2007. And a second in August 2008 about next year’s day.)

5 - The final field is to test whether you are a human or spam robot. Simply type in the number written there

Thank you for participating in Blog Action Day 2007! In future years we hope to have the entire site translated in many languages

  • dream last night : allowing v controlling

    Dream last night:

I am teaching a group of students together with A-S and J-E.
The other facilitator keeps changing identity
The students refuse to be controlled.
I want them to sit in a circle - but they don't seem to care
I want them to listen and pay attention , but they are nonchalant.
At the same time I think " This is too much effort ; too much hard work .
What if I were to let go and leave them to their own devices ?"
"To hell with them" they can do as they please .
If they want to learn- fine
If not - it's their loss.

Anyway , I google my business name and find that yes indeed my OLD number is listed in 3 directories- name and address are fine , but not this old number. So HIS phone has been ringing when it should have been mine !

I did not understand Swedish humour and what they consider entertainment.
Tonight I watched a programme called " Boston Tea Party " ( and wished I hadn't ) in which Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson tried to find answers to all manner of odd questions they have ever asked themselves.

There's a panel of 5 experts there to help. Tonight one of the things they explored was canibalism. One of them took a piece of flesh ( two tiny bits ) from the other's bum which he then ate and described the taste.

    Food and wine
Got home , ravenously hungry after all the shifting around of grey matter.
Fortunately had some creamy mushroom ristotto that I'd made the day before and put that on as soon as I got in.
    Seconds later - the doorbell.
Ingrid , who'd just happened to be passing by and wondered if I wanted to join her for a walk.
No way .. come on in says I , I've just got in and you are welcome to join me .. making a bite to eat .

So Selice Solento is uncorked , risotto warmed up and a couple of filets of fish fried garnished with a bit of basilika that I happen to have growing on the windowsill for a splash of colour.

    I love these spontaneous meetings.
Ingrid's daughter is an Art Student and also on facebook so we sent her a message.
Ingrid has just left and Madeleine replied inviting us to her next exhibition and dinner afterwards.

    Fun !

Cheers everyone .. bottoms up - I continue to indulge in this nectar of the gods :)

  • Socrates on Saturday

THere's this bookshop in Stockholm that has Socrates discussion groups on Saturdays , 3 - 4:30pm . I'd been meaning to go for a long time now and finally got it together today- arriving 20 minutes late as I had to get to the Systembolaget before it shut its doors , also at three . I got there 3 minutes to three making me the last one ! I've never been the last one before. :)

Anyway - joined the group at 3:20 pm and it was interesting. about 6 questions were written on the board and each was discussed. People presented their opinions and questions . No arguing was allowed , so everyone who spoke was listened to.

Socrates was one of the greatest educators who taught by asking questions and thus drawing out (as 'ex duco', meaning to 'lead out', which is the root of 'education') answers from his pupils. Socrates martyred himself by drinking hemlock rather than compromise his principles. he lived very frugally and was known for his eccentricity.

There are six types of questions that Socrates asked his pupils with the aim of challenging the accuracy and completeness of thinking
'tell me more' questions that encourage you to go deeper.

    1. Questions for clarification: Why do you say that?
How does this relate to our discussion?

    2. Questions that probe assumptions: What could we assume instead?
How can you verify or disapprove that assumption?

    3. Questions that probe reasons and evidence: What would be an example?
    What is....analogous to?
What do you think causes to happen...? Why:?

    4. Questions about Viewpoints and Perspectives: What would be an alternative?
What is another way to look at it?
Would you explain why it is necessary or beneficial, and who benefits?
    Why is the best?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of...?
    How are...and ...similar?
    What is a counterargument for...?

    5. Questions that probe implications and consequences: What generalizations can you make?
What are the consequences of that assumption?
    What are you implying?
    How does...affect...?
How does...tie in with what we learned before?

    6. Questions about the question: What was the point of this question?
Why do you think I asked this question?
    What does...mean?
    How does...apply to everyday life?

    Interesting
    :)

  • You are the master of your fate

YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR FATE

While your character is formed by your circumstances,
your own desires can do much to shape those circumstances.
What is really ennobling in the doctrine of free will is the conviction that
you have the power over the formation of your own character.

Nature is at work around you.
Character and destiny are her handiwork.
She gives you love and hate, jealousy and reverence.
You have the power to choose which impulses you will follow.

You can at any time decide to alter the course of your life.
No one can ever take that away from you.
You are the master or your joys and your sorrows.
The greatest power you possess is the power to choose.

You are the master of your fate.
You are the captain of your soul.

Remind me to post the Paulo Coelho video where he gives an archery lesson.
    Amazing.

Consider archery as a form of meditation.

I was really inspired by a visualisation excercise called " The Arrow " in Piero Ferrucci's book " What we may be " which for many is an introduction to Psychosynthesis.

After the preparation is done - all you need to do is to LET GO .. think about it.. simply LET GO .. because unless you do , nothing happens.

“ The bow is bent to its limit, ; the arrow is precisely aimed. Sense how much energy is stored in this static posture. All you need to do is to release the arrow for that energy to carry it to its target. realise how this letting go will release dynamic energy..
....Now the arrow is in flight, and feel its extraordinary one- pointedness. Nothing exists for the arrow but the target – no doubts, no distraction, no deviations. Flying perfectly straight, the arrow hits the centre of the target and stops there, quivering.”

For me this was an ah-ha moment .

    Enough chitterchatter for now .
I love you and leave you Blogland.
Have a peachy, glorious, sunny hapy day

    LET GO ......

  • Remembering the Alchemist

" The Soul of the world is nourished by people's happiness. And also by unhappiness, envy, and jealousy. To realise one's destiny is a person's only real obligation. All things are one.

.....And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."

The Universe has really helped me all my life. Synchronicity. A friend sent me The Alchemist about 12 years ago , when I was severely depressed. I read and savoured these words and they lifted me up and gave me hope. The Alchemist helped me turn my life around. I am so grateful to The Alchemist and Paulo Coelho

    We are shaped by our thoughts;
    we become what we think.

  • Second wind

    Funny how that happens.
At 9pm I could barely speak when Gunilla phoned. I was about to drag myself off to bed, got distracted, and now it's nearly midnight again.

I've got to try and change my sleeping patterns otherwise I am in great danger of missing out on daylight as the days get shorter.

Night night good souls .. I'm away to bed now. Sweet dreams.

  • Easing into October

    DSC00021

I'm easing into October with love and ease.
    It's decided.

Tackled paperwork this morning ; filing and sorting and filling in of forms.
I have " form phobia " - there must be a name for it. When a form needs filling in I put it off until the very last minute. It does not make sense at all. At the same time I know that it is not THAT difficult.

I'm nearly done now *sigh of relief*
    Why make such a fuss.
    Silly me.

The flowers Carl and Susanna brought are cheering me up.
    I love lilies !
