Subconscious stress

by miramaze @ Friday, 04. Jan, 2008 - 14:54:10

In my dream last night, Gunilla and Jill have come round and I've gone into the kitchen to make dinner. Can't decide what to make. Stress. I decide on prawn curry thinking the rice will take 20 minutes and I can make the curry while that is cooking. Then I realise I don't have garlic or onions. I decide to rush out and buy some. More stress. There are no food shops in sight. I go back home and decide to make do with what I have. In the meantime stress continues as I try to change the dream. I wake up frustrated.

What does it all mean ? I think this has to do with getting to know my new mac. I've been installing CD's and trying to label them only to find them disappearing somewhere. It is most frustrating. I was like this when I got my first computer and first mobile phone. I'm demented until I get the hang of things :))

The Zen of housework

by miramaze @ Friday, 04. Jan, 2008 - 14:45:12

Zen is everywhere,even in housework.

I look over my own shoulder
down my arms
to where they disappear under water
into hands inside pink rubber gloves
moiling among dinner dishes.

My hands lift a wine glass,
holding it by the stem and under the bowl.
It breaks the surface
like a chalice
rising from a medieval lake.

Full of the grey wine
of domesticity, the glass floats
to the level of my eyes.
Behind it, through the window
above the sink, the sun, among
a ceremony of sparrows and bare branches,
is setting in Western America.

I can see thousands of droplets
of steam -- each a tiny spectrum -- rising
from my goblet of grey wine.
They sway, changing directions
constantly -- like a school of playful fish,
or like the sheer curtain
on the window to another world.

Ah, grey sacrament of the mundane!

Speakers for mac

by miramaze @ Friday, 04. Jan, 2008 - 00:37:47

Since my CD has died :( a solution had to be found.
Mac to the rescue comes, with an inbuilt library of hundreds of tunes. Bought a pair of inexpensive speakers today which work surprisingly well.

I also discovered the newly opened Mac Shop right across the road from where I live. Now THEY have absolutely fabulous space. agey high - tech speakers that looked and sounded ultra sophisticated, but they will have to wait... for now.

Now I'm going to feed Mac with some of my music. I can do that , but I have still to learn how to label the tunes. I thought I had , but I can't have been doing it properly as they appear as track 1 and 01 , 2 and 02 etc .......

Night night
