The Calvalier of the Rose

by miramaze @ Wednesday, 30. Apr, 2008 - 12:36:03

Mikael phoned and invited me to the " Uproar " as Roger used to call it . Der Rosenkavalier -an Opera, Music Comedy by R. Strauss - 'The Cavalier of the Rose' in Three Acts

Nice! It's not often I get to go to the opera these days, so I jump at the chance. Thank you thank you thank you.

Haviog said that , Der Rosenkavalier is not one of my favourites, It's farcical , silly , with a plot that is really long and confusing, mixed identities etc etc .. too much fuss for me BUT the end scene is worth waiting for ....BLISS.

It's in three acts and is considered the best composition of Richard Strauss (1864 – 1949).I personally like Strauss's Salome. Der Rosenkavalier was first performed in Dresden, Hofoper, 26 January ,is set in Vienna in the 1740s,in the early years of the reign of Maria Theresia.
