Yours was flying already ? wow .. that was quick ! They are adorable our little feathered friends !

XX

Not flying but hopping about. The parents pushed them out of the cage and I found them on the bottom of the cage. It is interesting to watch the parents encourage their young to get out of the nest. The nest is made of cloth, hangs by the top of the cage (well secured) and there is a little hole at the front where the birds can pop out and pop in.

The little chick had a big day yesterday as he/she spent most of the day out. I was touching it, holding it and it did not seem frightened at all.

Towards the end of the day, I placed the chick on a perch near the nest, turned my back for a couple of minutes and then discovered the wee fella had gone into the nest. Probably hopped over there.

Cuteness personified!

Hugs

Awwww that's a lovely story ! It amazes me how these " bird brained " chaps KNOW exactly what to do.

That little finch chick trusted you - a big giant !! They haven't learned about fear yet. That is so sweet. Thanks for sharing xxx Hugs xxx

They are so dang cute. Mira, I have enjoyed this 'birthing' experience so much.

I am quite attached to the wee chicks. Hubby sezs give them away and I am not gonna do it.

Ingredients
4-5 pigeons, drawn
salt and pepper
250g/8oz stewing beef
250g/8oz shortcrust pastry
beaten egg to glaze
2 tsp cornflour
300ml/10fl oz stock

Method
1. preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
2. Joint the birds into two breast joints and two leg joints each and stew the rest of the carcass in a little water to make stock for the gravy.
3. Cut the beef into small pieces and line a deep 20cm/8in pie dish with these.
4. Lay the pigeon joints on top, cover with water, add salt and pepper, then cover the pie dish with greased paper or aluminium foil. Place in the oven and simmer for 1½ hours.
5. Remove from the oven and raise oven temperature to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
6. Cover the pie with the shortcrust pastry, brush the top with beaten egg, put back into the oven and bake until the pastry is golden brown.
7. Make a gravy by mixing 10g/2tsp cornflour with a little cold water and add to 300ml/10fl oz of the warmed stock. Allow to thicken while stirring, season and serve with the pie.

*slap*..What !!!!|-|...

They are sweet :-)

Doves have chosen you!

The Dove Totem

The skies will never see a more peaceful and graceful creature than the Dove. This animal has been respected and revered throughout the ages by ancient and modern Indian tribes and their Shaman. These tribes who are so connected to the elements and the Earth understand the true influence these creatures’ posses. They are diplomatic, legendary animals that own many admirable virtues.

The Dove represents the feminine power of giving, prophecy, and the hope a new beginning. The Dove shows and reveals the veils between the spiritual and physical worlds. The Dove shows up in many legends and lore. They were the totem of Aphrodite the Goddess of Love, and they bore the ambrosia from the Goddesses which kept Zeus immortal, they are the symbol of sexual passion in India. The flock of Doves called the “Seven Sisters” in Greece are thought to be the daughters of Aphrodite. Sophia, The Goddess of Wisdom, in the Mediterranean, is said to have descended upon animal vessels as the form of a Dove. In Mexico the Dove is seen as both a Love Goddess and a Madonna. The Hebrew’s see the Dove as a symbol of peace and purity.

It was the Dove which returned to Noah’s Ark to tell all aboard that land was found, in the Dove’s beak was an olive branch, which was the symbol of peace. It is believed that the Dove’s nature is so pure that even Satan himself cannont shape-shift into its form.

Doves, like many species of birds, breed and nest in pairs, they mate for life and build their nests, protect their territory and raise their young with their partners. The males as well as the females produce a milk like substance, called “crop milk” to feed their newborns with. Both parents take responsibility for the hatching and care of their offspring. The males will sit on the eggs during the day while the females take over the task at night. Both take responsibility for the guarding of their nest. The Dove occurs worldwide but their largest variety is in Indo-Malaysia.

The Magnificent Dove Totem possesses the following virtues:
Love, gentleness, new ideas, purity, sexual energy, intimate relationships, creativity, peace, family values, centered calmness, tranquility, support, assistance, new relationships, peaceful transition from difficulty, powers of the feminine, friendship, .

Dove Animal Pearls are said to impart their particular magical virtues to their owner. Dove Pearls are characteristic of its host; they possess all the awesome characteristics that may be seen in the Dove itself; the peace and love of this animal is contained within the pearl waiting for its proper owner to bestow its inner magic to that unique and fortunate individual. For century’s shamans, priestesses, spiritualists and practitioners of the occult have used Dove animal pearls to transfer the powerful magical energy of the Dove to themselves and to others in need of this commanding animal magic.

Dove pearls are highly sought after by any wishing to absorb Dove like virtues into their lives and develop stronger mental abilities such as those embodied by this symbolic creature. The owner of a Dove pearl will see their lives, spiritual energy and mental clarity imbued with all of the virtues attributed to the “Peace Bringer” of the skies, the Dove.

The Dove animal totem is a strong spirit indeed and its magical properties are one of the most influential of all animal totems. Love, understanding, martial happiness and balance, peacefulness, and so much more can be integrated into the spirit of the possessor of this magical pearl and the Dove totem.

PIGEON

Love and Security of Home

Pigeon can teach us how to find our way back to the security of home.
It can help you remember and find the love of home that was lost.

If a Pigeon totem comes to you, ask yourself if you have forgotten your foundation,
your heritage. Return to your home, your foundation,
and draw upon the loving energies surrounding them.

In times of strife, huddle together with your family and draw upon its strength.
Pigeon reminds us of the possibility of a loving and safe home

I've never seen pigeon babies before, so thank you. They do look kinda cute with their yellow feathers and big black beaks! They look like they are wearing gas masks.Funny, cute little darlings.

Yes .. gas masks ! They do look a bit odd, but adorable nevertheless :) Apparently pigeon babies stay in the nest until they are fully grown  I wonder how long that will be.
