I am ... a horrible, horrible, nasty person

I'm sorry , Mrs Pidge. I had to take the egg away. I can't have little Pidges appearing every month. I'm sorry , please forgive me . Thank you . I love you .

Mrs Pidge flew away while I harvested the egg, returned distraught and settled down again on the empty nest. I feel terrible. This was the 5th egg. Two hatched, grew up and flew away , one hatched and died and two were disposed off my nasty horrible Mira

She'll get over it - probably best for her not to have to deal with another set of babies anyway!

Not horrible.

In the "real world" her eggs would get eaten by predators.

Only a few baby pidges can grow to maturity if you had not done this then the ecosystem would be out of balance - you did the right thing.

Apparently you have competition. Honestly, I suppose there is a place where one has to draw the line. You were merely setting up your boundaries. They will find another place. You could always get a cat! LOL. My neighbour has pidgeons roosting under his eaves-been there nearly three years I think.
