Foods for beautiful hair
@ Friday, 31. Oct, 2008 – 12:55:00
It’s one of the maddening ironies of aging: Hair gets thinner where we want it -- on our heads -- and starts sprouting up in places we don’t.
Good trimmers and tweezers are all you need for the latter. But for the former? Try these healthy hair foods from Drs. Roizen and Oz (see below) -- they can help make your locks look more like they did in your 20s.
Healthy-Hair Diet
* Eat more salmon. Omega-3 rich foods like salmon and sardines help seal in shine. Distilled fish oils or DHA supplements will work, too. Need something new to do with salmon? Try this quick and easy Blackened Salmon Sandwich from
EatingWell.
* Be a bran lover. Bran is rich in vitamin B, which may slow hair loss and promote hair growth. Other B-rich victuals include beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower, soybeans, nuts, and eggs. Make bran-infused pancakes a snap with this Healthy Pancake Mix.
* Say yes to avocados. Avocados and avocado oil may prevent some funky stuff that kills hair follicles -- dihydrotestosterone (DHT) -- from getting where it needs to go.
* Say no to animal fat -- and red meat -- if you’re losing hair. They can lead to more DHT production and hair-follicle damage. Make meat-free gravy for your mashers with this delicious Portobello Gravy recipe.
* Stock up on green tea. Brew a strong pot, cool it, then give your head a rinse to help kill off dandruff-causing fungus. Incidentally, if you drink green tea, the caffeine in it may help slow balding, too. Try this simple Green Tea-Fruit Smoothie for breakfast -- another fabulous EatingWell recipe.
For more tips on being healthy and beautiful -- outside and in -- check out YOU: Being Beautiful -- The Owner’s Manual to Inner and Outer Beauty. It’s the newest book from RealAge experts Michael Roizen, MD, and Mehmet Oz, MD.
RealAge Benefit: Eating a diverse diet that is low in calories and high in nutrients can make your RealAge as much as 4 years younger.

Does the postman still knock ?
@ Thursday, 30. Oct, 2008 – 21:59:36
Spoke to my mum, in Bradford today to see if a parcel I'd ordered had arrived.
It had PARTLY arrived. The postman had left a note with the other mail for her to go and pick it up on the other side of town. Bless. She said she wasn't so much bothered about the trip but the fact that she'd stayed in all day waiting for the postman to ring and he'd been and gone without even knocking on the door to see if there was anyone at home.
It's only a small package. Do they not deliver to the door at all these days ?

Back from the bank
@ Thursday, 30. Oct, 2008 – 18:15:25
So ... I went to the bank. The banker is a lovely pregnant lady with two buns in the oven , as it were, expecting twins in February. I had to wonder what the little babies in there made of all this talk of mortgages and interest rates.
I put all my cards on the table expecting an outright " You must be joking " but no ..... at this stage things are still very hypothetical and hope springs eternal. She could not give me a straight answer. It's all pretend figuresl, but doors are still open. One step at a time.
Mrs Banker said that our individual homes would be appraised sometime within the next two weeks. The size of the loan the bank is prepared to give would depend on the market value of my flat. The higher the market value , the better my chances. She would also have to check out the Prof's creditworthiness if he's to be part owner. He would have to take out a second mortgage as he already has one.
My option to swap flats with someone is also still on.
It all feels like a giant puzzle with pieces twirling around around like a pile of leaves in the wind. Only till each piece falls into place will we be able to see the whole picture. Right now , things are still malleable.
My good friend and advisor, Mr H , was really happy today as the stock market was up. We are praying for another 10%
I've been advised to get the Board to sign an agreement saying that the person I exchange flats with would inherit my option to buy after six months , if I couldn't. It's a good deal for anyone wanting to buy and would increase my chances of getting a better rented flat in town.I asked MrC , our consultant , to draw up an agreement that I could present to the Board for their approval. If they don't approve , they can't expect me to play along.
He'll be back on Monday - it's a holiday weekend
Sent Reiki to this project
Cleared papers in the hall.
Threw out one more bag of rubbish ...power nap time ....

Gratitude note from the Universe
@ Thursday, 30. Oct, 2008 – 10:00:28
Oh this is so true !
GRATITUDE [grat.i.tude]: Big time buzzword during spiritual awakening phase of planetary evolution, yet often misunderstood.
When you think thoughts of "thanks," Mira, it's exactly the same as thinking thoughts of having received. And, as is true of all thoughts on the plane of manifestation, they must immediately strive to manifest into your time-space life.
Yet, the only way there can be a manifestation of such thoughts is if you do actually physically receive. And the only way you can actually physically receive is if all of the players and circumstances of your life are literally shifted around and manipulated, without you or them even knowing what's going on, so that you will be predisposed to the right ideas, hunches, connections, and introductions that will deliver you smack into the middle of such manifestations.
And it's all perfectly legal,
The Universe
I am so grateful for all encouragement and positive thoughts before my meeting with the Bank in an hour's time .*gulp*
Better get a move on ... THANK YOU , Universe , I am so grateful for the millions coming my way .
I am also grateful that both my nostrils are clear today !

Pot luck at J's
@ Wednesday, 29. Oct, 2008 – 23:17:27
J is having a clear out too- 200 books to go.
I'd never been to J's place, a tiny one room studio with shelves along one wall containing books and clothes, a matras in one corner- a couple of chairs, a meditation mat and that's it. Spartan. Austere.Simple. J's planning to spend 3 months in a Zen monastery and possibly becoming a monk.
It was a lovely evening. I came home with a bag full of books- half of which I plan to give away. Ridiculous really since I have just filled several bags full of books destined for charity shops.
Tomorrow I have an appointment at the Bank and a whole lot of adult financial talk

Chickpeas, a red silk pillow case and a rainbow
@ Tuesday, 28. Oct, 2008 – 20:57:48
Can't believe it's only 8:30 p.m. It's pitch black outside and I'm feeling really sleepy after doing a pile of ironing.
Tried to repair a favourite linen duvet cover , but failed miserably. All those long seams. Boring. It's had a good innings, so I've decided to let it go.
Made a red silk pillow case while the sewing machine was out. I read somewhere that it is good for your hair to sleep on silk.
And finally , a big pot of chickpeas are all soaked and cooked and I can't smell a thing. Will make hummus tomorrow.
There was a gorgeous rainbow earlier on today , but by the time I got my camera it had faded somewhat. Still fascinating though. Powernap methinks

Acupuncture#10 and 3 black bags full.
@ Monday, 27. Oct, 2008 – 18:36:41
Breathing through one nostril is ok, sort of

Marita , the Finnish acupuncturist lady , stuck needles in everywhere today; three in my face, one two in both arms , a few in my back one in my tummy and a few on my legs and I discovered it IS possible to lie on your back in spite of the needles.
" Trust me " says the lady who likes to use me as her pin cushion.
But fortunately she was right- it didn't hurt a bit.
Went home to continue emptying files and carrying out bags filled with paper out to thye bins. Two bags for the video tape sleeves alone. Filled a blag bag with videos; home recordings of TV shows and films. Haven't watched any for a couple of years since the video died. It's all DVD's now anyway.
After three hours of clearing,I have 3 black bags full. One for plastic, another for fabric, a third for videos. After that, into the shower to be free of all the sweat and dust.
That's enough for today.

Home-styling, clearing clutter and Turkish Delights
@ Sunday, 26. Oct, 2008 – 23:31:27
The Prof ( my son ) was around earlier and brought me a box of Turkish delights , all the way from Istambul;rose, lemon and menthol. I just had a rose one.
We talked about the flat and agreed that a lot of shifting of rubbish had to be done and a bit of home-styling.
I burst into tears at the thought of all the stress.
I don't cope with stress very well
My head is still spinning with possible courses of action.
The next few weeks will be critical.Options so far :
buy- meeting with banker sometime next week.
swap - involves shifting stuff, physical hard work, stress that can ONLY be motivated by an affordable two room rented flat in town.
stay put - lose out on opportunity to make money and risk massive increase in rent so that I won't be able to stay. It's mindboggling.
The only part I am looking forward to is the shifting of rubbish. A golden opportunity. We decided on 8th November. The Prof will arrange a van to take rubbish to the tip.
It's all happening so fast and things look different every day. Some days I'm optimistic and others I am im the depths of despair.
Writing this down in attempt to stay sane .
No need to comment .
Blessings and good vibes appreciated.I have visitors coming in May - if I must move let it be July

Night night all

xxxSoul Message: Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can. –John Wesley
Alchemy and Transformation: At this stage of initiation, one is blessed with boundless enthusiasm and the joy of creation. Dance into this beautiful life with respect and gratitude. You have earned the rapture of this golden essence; however, it is only yours to the extent you share it with the world. This light is the torch of service that must radiate out from the heart of humanity. All actions and creative endeavors must originate with this source of unconditional love.
Awakening to the Archetype –Setting Sun Woman: The keeper of tomorrow’s dreams and goals, She teaches us about the will to live, survive, and thrive as caretakers on planet Earth. Give thanks for the light of this Goddess. Open your curtains to the daylight. Drink sparkling water that the Sun has nourished. Absorb the rays of the Sun as they penetrate into the core of your deepest self. Enjoy your life!
Everyday Encounters: Each day, as this archetype surrounds you, it is beneficial to set new goals and dreams. Look beyond the cliff’s edge. Expand your horizons to include care and concern for the next seven generations. Cultivate empathy and compassion for our Earth and live according to ecological wisdom. Speak with authority and do not be afraid of your power. Walk in humility and in service with a proud and giving nature. Rise above petty concerns of those around you. Serve as a beacon of light and share your joy with the world.

As long as I am breathing
@ Sunday, 26. Oct, 2008 – 10:26:57
As long as I am breathing, I will always be alive.
As long as I am alive, I will always be evolving.
As long as I am evolving, I will always be changing.
As long as I am changing, I will always be conscious.
As long as I am conscious, I will always be deliberate.
As long as I am deliberate, I will always be intentional.
As long as I am intentional, I will always be focused.
As long as I am focused, I will always be consistent.
As long as I am consistent, I will always be certain.
~ Spectrum of Intentions by Matt Kahn from go gratitude blog
The words of this meditation seem especially appropriate today, because I AM breathing easily right now , through both nostrils. Blessed be !A good night's sleep, assisted by sage tea and bitter grapefruit-seed drops. Halleluya !
I am so grateful for the extra hour of sleep. What a blessing ! Woke up a few minutes before 3 a.m. to have a pee and switched on my computer for the sheer pleasure of seeing the time go back an bour to 2 a.m. and then back to sleep again to wake up at a decent hour.
Did you remember to put your clocks back ?
Happy Sunday everyone !

Words and expressions
@ Thursday, 23. Oct, 2008 – 21:01:11
Language changes.
New words , phrases and expressions creep in.
How does it happen ?Sometimes a new word can be attributed to a specific person, other times not.
I'm thinking about the expression " to google something ". Years ago when I discovered Google and told someone "to google something"and thought I had invented the expression until I heard other people using it." To google " must now be in the dictionary.
Can this be proof that we are connected in the collective .. the world soul.... the collective unconscious "energy bank" from which all inspiration flows ?
There must be other examples

What word or expression would you like to see added and used ?

Insight meditation
@ Thursday, 23. Oct, 2008 – 13:55:55
This phrase has been echoing in my mind over the past few days, insisting on being heard.
I don't know if is meant just for me , but since we are ONE , I think we can all benefit from these words.Do everything with a mind that lets go.
Do not expect any praise or reward.
If you let go a little, you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.
If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom.
Your struggles with the world will have come to an end.

Pink cloud over London
@ Tuesday, 21. Oct, 2008 – 19:41:38
Did any of you see this pink cloud last night ?"
" London residents were left scratching their heads last night as a mysterious pink cloud drifted over the city.
Bemused bystanders in Mayfair craned their necks to witness the strange alien-like cloud that appeared for just under an hour at around 8:30pm.
It hovered over buildings before breaking up and slowly disappearing.
But after dismissing theories of UFOs and atmospheric phenomenons, the Met Office said the blob was likely to be nothing more than the lights of the city reflected in a cloud.( spoilsports ! )
A spokesman said: "If you have very high cloud, as we did last night, you tend to get odd splodges of low cloud that will reflect the pink or sometimes orangey-pink lights of the city from all angles and stand out from the darkness of the sky.
"It can be truly spectacular to witness."

Later that day
@ Tuesday, 21. Oct, 2008 – 17:19:53
It'¨s cleared up enough for me to watch the sun through the familiar haze of dirty windows. But that's ok. My friend , the one who was going to clean my windows while I made tea, called to say she'd spent a couple of hours at the vet's and after a battery of tests ,Tessie was spared doggie heaven and is on antibiotics instead. Relief.
This is a picture taken of Tessie this summer after she'd been given a bath as she'd decided to hae a roll in some stinky poo. Why dogs do that ?

Good morning

Good morning
Cloudy.
Rain and drizzle
Glad I don't have to go out.
Lena had arranged to come over to clean windows.
She's an expert.
I'm a hopelessly lazy window cleaner and quite like the protection of the haze.
Lena insists that they must be cleaned
" clear sight ... clarity .... essential ! " saith she .
Might not happen today, as 88 year old Tessie might have to go to doggy heaven. Bless.
Let's hope for the best.
Blessings to us all. -

In my dream last night, my friend D who lives in Canada turns up at my doorstep completely out of the blue with gorgeous much younger Brazilian lover.
- Where are you staying ? I ask
- Oh we are about to go look for hotels
- No need- you will stay here - you can have my bed.
AND the funny thing is I do not feel put out or jealous or envious in the dream, I feel sincerely happy for her and him , even though in reality , I would wish it was me !
He was gorgeous too

Twenty things Oprah knows for sure
@ Monday, 20. Oct, 2008 – 13:34:41
OPRAH was asked " What do you know for sure ?" by Gene Siskel and after some thought came up with these 20 .
1. What you put out comes back all the time, no matter what. (This is my creed.)
2. You define your own life. Don't let other people write your script.
3. Whatever someone did to you in the past has no power over the present. Only you give it power.
4. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. (A lesson from Maya Angelou.)
5. Worrying is wasted time. Use the same energy for doing something about whatever worries you.
6. What you believe has more power than what you dream or wish or hope for. You become what you believe.
7. If the only prayer you ever say is thank you, that will be enough. (From the German theologian and humanist Meister Eckhart.)
8. The happiness you feel is in direct proportion to the love you give.
9. Failure is a signpost to turn you in another direction.
10. If you make a choice that goes against what everyone else thinks, the world will not fall apart.
11. Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn't lie.
12. Love yourself and then learn to extend that love to others in every encounter.
13. Let passion drive your profession.
14. Find a way to get paid for doing what you love. Then every paycheck will be a bonus.
15. Love doesn't hurt. It feels really good.
16. Every day brings a chance to start over.
17. Being a mother is the hardest job on earth. Women everywhere must declare it so.
18. Doubt means don't. Don't move. Don't answer. Don't rush forward.
19. When you don't know what to do, get still. The answer will come.
20. "Trouble don't last always." (A line from a Negro spiritual, which calls to mind another favorite: This, too, shall pass.)
So thanks, Gene, for asking me the question. The answer continues… are 20 things Oprah Winfrey knows for sure .

Is there a bug under the rug ?
@ Sunday, 19. Oct, 2008 – 14:05:17
Feeling a bit under the weather today - like there's a bug in my system; weak , slightly sore throat, sleepy, not wanting to do anything - it's all just under the surface .Could well be my body responding to thoughts about clearing stuff. I've done a bit of clearing or cleaning every day now. It's a never ending story. In the meantime I'm holding the vision of SIMPLICITY and clutter free space, free from old, unwanted energies. Loyal soldiers who have served well and now need to be laid to rest in peace in their very own Valhalla .Hoyatahoooooo!
So, I'm taking things easy- drinking bitter grapefruit seed drops to zap the bugs out of my system. Might do a collage
or paint.I've also run out of vaccum cleaner bags

Happy Birthday Agido
@ Saturday, 18. Oct, 2008 – 12:47:55

Happy Birthday Agido !You never know when your muse will suddenly arrive and depart.
The muse is the spark of creative fire within the higher imagination.
It can subtle, fleeting, and tricky to understand.
When the Pied Piper appears ,
it is time to follow your inner guide,
your ingenious and inventive brand of thinking.
Do not follow an outer leader piping a hypnotic tune;
listen rather to the gentle refrains of your own inner music.
Be playful. Dance. Sing.
Let your artistic gifts blossom.
Pay homage to the creative spirit that leads you forward on the path of lifeENJOY your day of magic and wonder!

Helping someone to heal
@ Saturday, 18. Oct, 2008 – 12:08:01
"Abraham, I'm wanting to help this person."
And we say, just hold the image of them in a place of utter Well-being, and trust that through the path of least resistance, either they will recover and Well-being will be restored here, or they will withdraw and Well-being will be restored there. But in either case, whether they stay or whether they have what you call death experience, the Well-being is always restored.
Whether it is someone who has just been bipping along in physical experience who has been meditating, who knows the sweetness of Connection on a day-to-day basis, who says, "Ah, this life experience has been so wonderful and I think I will now turn my attention to another aspect of my life experience," closes their eyes as they put themselves in the bed, make the transition, and they are discovered as having made their transition in the night. Or whether they have some violent experience, where at the gun of an enemy, or the gun of someone violent, or a car crash they make their transition. As they make their transition, ultimately it is still the same experience.

Watching the sun set
@ Friday, 17. Oct, 2008 – 19:00:23
So here I am watching the sun set, sipping a glass of wine and nibbling on some chevre.
Pasta is boiling - simple sauce spinach garlic ,creme fraiche and parmesan.
Beetroots roasting in the oven with chevre and drizzled with honey
Popped in to see Gunilla earlier and talked about our resepctive homes. We are both getting rid of clutter and simplifying so that IF , gods forbid , we have to move , then it will be all that much easier.
What's the worst that can happen if you lose your home ?
We've decided that if that happens we would turn all assets into cash, move to a warmer country for the winter and take it from there being open to whatver turns up.
There is freedom in being footloose and fancy free, with no material possessions to weigh you down.
I'm thinking : Mac Lappy in rucksack and change of clothes ??

Happy Friday everyone !

At the end of the day
@ Wednesday, 15. Oct, 2008 – 23:53:33
At the end of the day , after struggling with this subject of poverty, I am so very grateful that I have a home , food, clothes , friends , loved ones, health and well-being and the internet.
Finally I'd like to share this from :http://porillion.wordpress.com/2008/10/15/blog-action-day-2008-poverty/
lots of ideas here of action one can take .88 Ways to Take Action Against Poverty Right Now
1. Eat meatless meals 2x a week. Donate that grocery money to a local food bank. - TarotByArwen
2. Be homeless for a day/night. - Lex
3. Stop putting off adopting a child through an organization like Compassion International (or adopt another one). - Lex
4. Make a loan on Kiva, or buy a couple gift certificates and give them away to friends. - Lex
5. Get a group together to go door-to-door collecting canned foods for your local soup kitchen/shelter. - Lex
6. Take a homeless person to dinner and actually sit/talk with him. - Lex
7. Stop being lazy. Find a way to do your job better so that you can save an hour a day, or be that much more productive. - Alex Shalman
8. Stop buying junk to make yourself look pretty and donate it to homeless people and hungry people. - Craigsnede
9. Make flyers to stick in the local library. - Craigsnede
10. If you have a musical instrument you no longer use, donate to the still-struggling musicians and students in New Orleans, who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. A few great organizations that will accepts musical instruments are Tipitina’s Foundation (www.tipitinasfoundation.org) and The New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund (www.nomrf.org/donations.html).
11. I’m interviewing a Capuchin monk vowed to Poverty about his work with Detroit’s poor for my blog, and I’m trying to arrange a fund raiser with my author and PIVTR radio station friends.
12. Find a gripping picture or video having to do with poverty and publish it on the Web.
13. Stop drinking Coke and bottled water for a day and save on plastic. Will save a lot of plastic if each of us does it for only one day.
14. Share your skill or knowledge, so they can improve their knowledge to increase their life/prosperity.
15. Visit an orphanage.
16. Stop being lazy.
17. Give comfort to the poor.
18. Donate.
19. Check your closet and make sure that anything you have not used last winter is taken to a charitable organization. Ask your friends and neighbors and volunteer to pick up the clothes, launder them and deliver them to those organizations. They will do no good in your closet and a world of good to someone in need.
20. On one day only eat food that you have asked someone for directly or for the money you need to buy it. Pay attention to the feelings.
21. Have a “sponsor me” day. Donate money to a poverty relief cause for everyone who leaves a comment on your blog that day.
22. Designers for Blog Action Day group on Flickr. Submit your designs: http://www.flickr.com/groups/bad2008design/
23. Organize a Hunger 101 Program for a local youth group. Our Girl Scout community learned about what they could do to help the working poor in our community. http://spedr.com/da5f This inspired them to organize several Take Action events: http://spedr.com/krfw
24. Add the “Women Rock” badge to your website or Facebook page.
25. if any of us knew or aware about any organisation which can help educate them, like, skills centre, entrepeneurship centre..u know, stuffs they do to help these pople actually do something to improve their life, we might try to collect name carsd from these organisations (NGOs or ministries), and walk around and passed these cards to them, with of couse, maybe some donations of any supplies.
26. Skip a weekly trip to the grocery store and donate the money saved to a food bank. I do this once a year for my family of 5. For that week we only eat what is left in the pantry or fridge. By the end of the week, pickings are slim and we get a sense of what it feels like to not have the luxury of tasty, well balanced meals every night.
27. Make a personal fundraising page in 5 minutes on Firstgiving.com. Raise money securely online for any US-based nonprofit committed to ending poverty in the US or around the world. Here’s an example page: http://www.firstgiving.com/bapbwm.
28. Have dinner on the floor and make it a very small meal (like chicken broth, watered down milk, and maybe a small piece of bread?) Talk about the blessings you have and that the meal represents those who don’t get to eat “big” on a daily basis.
29. Volunteer at a soup kitchen!
30. Play freerice.com!
31. If you have take out coffee, skip it for an entire week, donate the savings!
32. Give 5 bucks to a homeless person who looks hungry!
33. Talk with your children about poverty and who it affects.
34. Save your old stuff and sold it for charity
35. Support charity organization in your country. Reducing poverty may start in your nearest region.
36. Do something to touch 3 people or to reach out to 3 people and get them to pay it forward.
37. Give a gallon of water to each of 3 people who need it?
38. Give a $10 gift certificate to each of 3 homeless, single mothers so that she and her children can have one hot meal at a fast food restaurant?
39. Ask 3 entrepreneurs to each make a donation to 3 people or causes?
40. Holding perhaps daily or weekly community classes for imparting knowledge from our side and educating the local masses is something we all can do by coming together at grass root level.
41. Avoiding overconsumption.
42. Contributing to relief funds which can assist this cause.
43. Host a 1 day famine and collect donations. With the donations, pass it to a Welfare/Poverty Organisation.
44. Plan a pot luck/BBQ or a get together inviting close friends and neighbours, to bring awareness and also to raise funds for a shelter home. Funds can be used to purchase the necessary groceries for the home.
45. Pray for the comfort and safety of the world’s poor. Pray for the strength, wisdom and courage to help each of them find prosperity.
46. Combat corruption!
47. Don’t just talk to your kids about poverty - get them involved by having them go through their toys and clothes to find concrete things to pass along. The next time they want you to buy something for them - talk about what that money could buy for someone who had no food… then follow through and donate the money you didn’t spend.
48. Donate your time and expertise to teach a class to those trying to find a new way to earn a living.
49. To add to the previous suggestions, rather than just donate money to homeless people, why not use the money you would use on yourself for a coffee to buy one for someone else. If you get coupons for free beverages or meals, keep them with you and give them to someone in need.
50. As you find organizations to which you like to donate food, clothing, etc., spend some time volunteering for that organization. Contribute to the organizations you are already supporting in other ways.
51. Educate others. If you are a teacher, talk to your students about poverty. Get their opinions. Inspire them. If you work in other areas, strike up a conversation with your colleagues in the lunchroom or lounge. Get educated so you can answer questions and provide information that might spur others into action.
52. Visit The Hunger Site every day and click the link to feed the hungry. It’s fast and it’s free and there’s absolutely NO excuse not to do it every day you’re online!
53. Be compassionate.
54. Invite friends to watch documentaries how poverty destroyed ones life, family and their future.
55. Do not waste water on that day.
56. Express your love and compassion for one street child by having an enrollment conversation with her.
57. Ask your child to share her food with the child of your maid on that day.
58. Make a list of five items you haven’t used for long and have no plans to use them in future either. And distribute them among local poors with all humility.
59. Compose a poem on the theme ‘Making Poverty A History’ and get it published in a local magazine or paper. Also, ask your baby to recite the poem in her school.
60. Talk to your five relatives about the poverty issue and invite them to come up with their suggestions to eradicate poverty.
61. Organize a drawing competition for kids on the poverty theme and exhibit their works in a local school or community centre.
62. Do not overeat on that day.
63. Save electricity on that day and contribute the equivalent savings to a local charity.
64. Contribute your one day salary to a child rehabilitation centre.
65. Get a few friends, gather all your unused items, sell it and buy something a meal for the poor in your neighborhood.
67. Travel to a poor country or area. Look for ways to make a difference on the ground there.
68. On your next off day from work, go to a homeless shealter and help serve food to those who are there, talk with them, listen to their stories, you will find that they were at one time, alot like yourself.
69. Let’s learn to love and respect one another, and to give to those who have less.
70. Pictures. It’s one thing to say that the milk my son spilled at lunch this afternoon was more than some kids get. But some people don’t see how real that is unless they’re looking at a picture. So, I’m looking for them.
71. Talk about poverty.
72. To most Americans, it’s not real unless we see it. I’m going to be revamping my blog so that poverty is prominent, and I’m talking about it more often.
73. Don’t stop at the generalities. War, famine, corruption, etc. all happen, and should be resisted. However, let’s dig deeper and go into the specifics. Not just talking about thousands of people dying of thirst … let’s talk about a real person.
74. Pull out the hearts of the readers, and make them confront what they know is right and wrong.
75. Instead of video games and other toys, give your neighbors and friends gift certificates for classical music lessons. For every $1 spent on music education, by my calculations, you get a $4.57 return on your investment from age 4-22 and that investment can never be taken away from you. Throughout one’s lifetime it pays much, much more. Take the money you save and give it in music lessons to the next person.
76. Go to your school board meetings and demand better music education. The arts are part of the core curriculum of “No Child Left Behind” and as I’ve been telling people for a few months now, the less we have to pay for health care and crime, the more we have to spend on food and shelter and doing good for our neighbors.
77. The more intelligent we are and the more productive we are, the more fruitfully we can spend our time, and the more we can produce to give away.
78. The reason why poverty still exist in Indonesia is because people is giving cash money to the poor at the streets and those money usually being used for things that usually destructive/not good (buying drugs, etc.) In order to stop poverty, the government already got their program to fight it but it didn’t go successfully for people still think that they are better off at the streets and there’s this what-so-called ‘mafia’ that organize these poor people at the streets.
79. In order to fight this, the people started to give food/meal/clothes to the poor instead of cash money so it would stop the process.
80. I think in order to stop poverty is to give what the people really need, not just giving it away for the sake of ‘being kind’
81. Fund educational programs for women.
82. Ensure that women have legal protections.
83. Educate people about the plight of women around the world.
84. Educate yourself on one aspect of poverty that affects women, whether it’s educating yourself on what’s going on with rape or abortion legislation in your own local area, or finding out what you can do to help women in other countries attain the basic human rights they deserve, by doing research on organisations that help women and contributing to those organisations in some way.
85. Do a campaign of creative advertisements for public awareness and a call to action. Do a poster, do an ambient campaign, write a radio or TV spot.
86. Breadline Africa is launching a Blogger Bake Off to help raise awareness and funds. If you want to do something on Blog Action Day, you should turn your talking (which is very worthwhile) into action: donate to a charity. Organisations that use funds directly in poor communities will be using your money where it can do the most good: at the grass roots level.
87. Educate yourself.
88. Prepare a space in your home for the poor to stay as needed.Well, what are you waiting for? Pick something from this list. Go NOW. Do it.
Do it.
And the world will be richer in mind and body.

There is such a tremendous untapped resource of potential inside each of us.
Imagine if that were released for the common good!
Imagine if each of us would donate and share just a tiny percentage of that resource. We ARE the change we wish to see.

The result of our dominant thoughts
@ Wednesday, 15. Oct, 2008 – 16:43:36
As I immerse myself in the subject of poverty I find I'm really out of my depth.
All it's doing in making me feel depressed. What good is depression to anyone ? That's hardly going to help, is it ?Misery, wretchedness, loss of hope, squalor, inhumane living conditions , hunger , disease
Poverty has existed throughout the ages. But WHY ?
Does anyone have an answer ?
I'm thinking it's time to break the cycle and do things differently. A totally different approach.
I'm thinking the long term solution is not going to come from our governments and leaders, and not through laws rules and regulations. Donations of money help for a while, but real change will come from a change in consciousness and through empowerment of each individual think for themselves; personal power through awareness.
What would help I think, would be that those of us who are fortunate enought to be in 60% who have a roof over our heads and basic needs would share our prosperity thoughts as well as our material possessions..
Our life always expresses the result of our dominant thoughts . -- Soren Kierkegaard

@ Wednesday, 15. Oct, 2008 – 11:48:45
Poverty is a HUGE subject.
It is easy for me to feel overwhelmed and do nothing. What can I do ?
One thing that I have already done is to ask my higher self and world soul for guidance.
Thoughts are things, I have learned and I intend share my " things " with the world today.
I intend to donate this day to sharing my thoughts on the subject of poverty in order to raise awareness.

Shattered
@ Tuesday, 14. Oct, 2008 – 23:22:53
Three laundry loads.
Four timed up and down stairs to the cellar.
The bowels of the earth , I call it.
Who needs a stair master ?
Hard work carrying an IKEA bag full of wet sheets , towels and clothes. As I walk down the stairs I keep having conversations with my chattering monkey mind.
Why burden it even more with heavy boring dull thoughts ?
I can CHOOSE to be happy , right?
Or is that denial ?
What if I think this thought then :
" ALTHOUGH my legs are aching and I am resenting having to do this , I can also find peace, satisfaction and a sense of achievement"
Now THAT thought holds both ... so it is no longer just denial

*chuckles*
Whenever I have these conversations with myself I end up laughing.
Try it.
Works every time ....when you take time to pause and reflect.
I end up loving what is.Night night blogland ....it's blogging on the theme of POVERTY tomorrow !
Will sleep on it and see what comes

We are ONE
@ Tuesday, 14. Oct, 2008 – 18:53:51
I'm the sort of person that doesn't need Science to tell me what is and what isn't.
My inner sense and knowing tells me what feels right for me and what doesn't
I am aware that not everyone is like me and that some of us need explanations and proof.
That we are ONE and that we are interconnected , I have known for a long time.
Here is something for those who need more proofIn Physics, there is a theory known as Quantum Entanglement which occurs when two particles are created from a single source and then split in two in a laboratory setting. Once split, these two photons will be exact opposites of each other. They will be perfect mirror images and once created, will ALWAYS mirror one another. If these photons are allowed to separate and only one is exposed to a magnetic field to increase its spin, the spin of the other particle will also change (albeit in the opposite direction). The other particle INSTANTLY acquires the opposite quantum state of the particle exposed to the magnetic field.
Basically, what Quantum Entanglement tells us is that particles of energy communicate with one another. And it doesn't matter if the two particles are ten inches, ten miles or ten thousand miles away. They instantly communicate with one another. This not only indicates that energy is thinking stuff, it indicates that each particle also knows what energy particles elsewhere are doing. That means all energy, everywhere, is connected. And since we are made of energy, as is everything else, that means we are connected, too.
I mention Quantum Entanglement because I have always been one of those people who likes to know how and why everything works and, for me, the QE theory beautifully explains why blessing works and why, when we bless, our blessings are always reflected back to us. We are wonderful, cosmic, universal, intrinsically energetic and spiritual beings and what we give out to others comes back. We are part of the Divine Harmony of the universe.
In his book, Blessing, The Art and Practice, author David Spangler defines blessing as "...a moment of reconnection with each other, with the world, and with the source of our being." In this sense, blessing reawakens us of who and what we are, re-linking us to our origin, reminding us we are ONE.
BLESSINGS to one and all !

It's a sign
@ Tuesday, 14. Oct, 2008 – 16:03:50
I was on my way down to the bottle bank ( recycling place) when
a car full of young lads stopped to ask me for directions !
It's happened before.
Men ARE beginning to change
" Are you from Gotland ? "
a flirty one asks
" No from England "
I have an accent that people sometimes find hard to place.I do believe this is a sign of The Shift.
A change of consciousness.
Men never used to ask for directions.
It is a good sign !

Sunday morning .. sunshine and blue skies ... no workmen making noise .. a cooked breakfast and favourite comedies ...bless the bliss

I'm watching " Help me , help you "
A therapist who needs a little help of his ownhave you seen it ?
tee hee .........
Oooooo it's good to have a chuckle
On a more serious note , I've just googled and found that this show was pulled after 5 episodes or somethingI'm seeing this show for the first time here in Sweden and think it is FANTASTIC !
"Help Me, Help You" is BOTH funny and profound.
This is rare.
I fail to understand why it was pulled, unless of course the USA was not yet ready for a quality programme since T.V. is full of " junk food viewing " trash and violence to please a " programmable audience ".Shish !!! Am I alone in this ?

Bookshelves, books and lunch
@ Saturday, 11. Oct, 2008 – 22:07:55
Clearing dusty bookshelves is quite a task.
I've decided to put all the books in carrier bags while I vacuum and clean the shelves. I'm also sorting them out as I go; some to keep and some to give away.
I have STACKS of papers that need sorting through and it's not easy due to all the dust. Paper gathers dust.
In the middle of all this , took time to make lunch - fresh grilled salmon with a creamy white wine sauce, steamed brocolli and boiled potatoes. YUM.
A slice of defrosted Gayatri cake for dessert.Nothing much happening this evening. Might watch a DVD from my little collection of Daily Mail freebies that mum passes on to me
Excitement

Still, I do love pottering around in my little home - especially when I see results. This cleaning and tidying will take me all week. Roll on Saturday and the satisfaction of a cleaner and fresher Miraland

How's your weekend progressing ?

HUGE dust bunnies !
@ Friday, 10. Oct, 2008 – 22:08:03
They were absolutely ENORMOUS and had take up residence under my bed which is where shoe boxes filled with photos and other sentimental stuff reside, in perfect peace.
My bed is 160 x 200 must be around 5f2in x 6f 4in something like that and heavy. I draggd it out, turned it around now to face west- east, instead of north - south and vacuumed underneath. Will have to mop the floor once the books are all back in place.
I've also stripped the bed and made up the bed with clean sheets , climbed out of dirty clothes and showered to remove all traces of dust and grime. Hopefully allergies will stay away,
Wish I had a bath tub to soak in

Had a bowl of porridge ( cos I felt like it ) and a glass of wine and I am now ready for dreamland. Will have to finish the rest off tomorrow.
How's your Friday ?
Night night everyone.

A good send off
@ Thursday, 09. Oct, 2008 – 18:03:32
The "Send Off " or funeral for J's father was here in Östermalm , the church you can see in the background. I did't think it appropriate to start snapping in front of the church.Shame though , as it is a really beautiful church and the first time I'd been inside. G. tells me that it has appeared in Ingmar Bergman films. I shall have to come back another day and snap it up .Anyway , I had arranged to meet G. in the square and took the outdoor pics while waiting,
After the service , G and I went for a coffee in the food market. 30 kr for an americano ! This is an expensive part of town.

A bigger vibrational kitchen
@ Thursday, 09. Oct, 2008 – 10:42:07
Don't know about you , but I limit myself all the time. It's daft. I wasn't aware of it before , but now that I am .You're really not wanting to limit beliefs because belief is just perspective, and the more beliefs or the more perspectives or the more attitudes, the bigger the vibrational kitchen from which you can make your pie. Just get so good at directing your Energy that the belief doesn't dominate.

An orange segment in the night sky
@ Wednesday, 08. Oct, 2008 – 23:19:23
It's the third night in a row that I've had the pleasure of Lady Moon's presence. She is setting now, a beautiful and bold orange segment. 22:59 Bless.Disappeared now behind the blocks of flats.
A lovely evening altogether. Chat with the Prof and Johanna back from a long weekend in Istambul. I have been promised Turkish delights
The Prof is exercising discipline and powers of restraint so as not to scoff the lot before they reach me. Rose and Citrus flavour
Maarja phoned too . She's feeling weird after her mother's passing. Nothing can prepare you for this , she tells me. Bless. The funeral is in Gothenburg 4 hours away and the fare horrendous at 1200 SEK - about a hundred pounds day return. We agreed to have a Meets memorial day in Stockholm; light a candle in the church, go for a walk, talk, remember all the lovely times spent together and have a nice meal , either at Miraland or out somewhere.
I have a funeral to go to tomorrow too. J's father, whom I 've only met a couple of times, but J. needs moral support and so G. and I are going. We will be there to help give him a good send off.I quite like funerals when it isn't someone close.
Finishing on a brighter note- my acupuncture treatment was fab. She stuck a couple of needles in my tum to get the chi flowing
Great stuff
Just one more thing ....

Mira's note from the Universe today .
@ Wednesday, 08. Oct, 2008 – 18:16:15
Mira, your "ship" was spotted off the coast this morning, slipping silently through the fog. Coming around the cape, she appeared in a shaft of sunlight and what a sight to see! Glimmering as much as the ocean herself. Massive and beautiful beyond belief. Laden with treasures, happy times, friends, love, and laughter.
This week, though, you must prepare for her arrival. You must make space in your life for her gifts, before she heads back out to sea.

Intruder during brunch and Emmerdale
@ Wednesday, 08. Oct, 2008 – 13:10:33
If you have been reading this blog , you will know about my never ending saga of The Pidges.
Well, they are back, the Pidges are back , on and off that is, using my balcony as a rent by hour Pidge hotel. That's another story.
Today , while watching a particularly exciting episode of Emmerdale over brunch , I hear loud cooing, louder than usual. I go to investigate only to find Mrs Pidge standing in MY bedroom. Scared the living daylights out of me as she flew out . Caught a snap of her as she was leaving.
...and then , camera still in hand I return to Emmerdale . The Dingles , one of the King boys and Pollard are in Spain - Pollard trying to secure a dubious time share deal teee heee
So, what is happening in this scene, do you reckon ?

She's gracing us with her presence tonight, the Lady Moon.
It's been a while.
I am so happy to see her.
Today has been a glorious sunny day , blue skies and brilliant autumn colours.
A real blessing.
I now know that the bright star that I've been following all summer is not Sirius as first thought , but Jupiter and is to the left of the moon as she is setting .Can you see her ? Can you see them both ? I mean in real life ..my camera was unable to capture Jupiter .

You're always on your way somewhere
@ Sunday, 05. Oct, 2008 – 23:19:24
You’re always on your way somewhere. The key is: find a way to be happy wherever you now are on your way to where you really want to be. (We’re speaking of the state of being you want.) It does not matter where you are; where you are is shifting constantly—but you must turn your attention to where you want to go. And that’s the difference between making the best of something and making the worst of something.

Chickpea curry with whole grain couscous instead rice , couple of glasses of bon vin blanc sec ( dry white wine ) and a crisp and juicy apple for dessert. I'm craving apples these days. Can't get enough of them. Weird.
Had dinner with Jim Carrey ( Film on TV ) Light entertainment. He's so sexy in a goofy sort of way. Enchanting . Mesmerizing chap. So many facial expressions. Fabulous aura and presennce. Wouldn't mind having him over for dinner when Antonio is not around
He would be exhausting though ......Has anyone seen the Lady Moon ? She's waxing now but I 've looked and looked and nadda

So , time to turn in after I post an Abe quote that I found, when I find it

Writing longhand
@ Sunday, 05. Oct, 2008 – 13:43:25
Writing longhand is very satisfying.
Especially with a fountain-pen
or a pen that writes smoothly
you know , when the ink flows smoothly and without clogging, stopping or scratching.
I have a thing about pens and fountain -pens
I also tend to lose them
Or misplace them
Right now I am obsessing about my blue Pilot gel pen
which is like my turquoise Pilot pen , but is blue and runs on gel or something
Sadly , it's gone.
I always loose the good ones.
I got my first fountain pen , a Parker Lady , when I was six.
Took it to school and someone stole it
but I got it back only to loose it 30 years later.
That was sad.
Subconsciously I must still be greiving that pen
otherwise, why would I obsess about losing pens ?
Sometimes I wonder if I am using the computer too much.
Writing longhand is very very different.
I've been neglecting longhand writing in my journal.
Most things are now on the computer
Easier to read that way
But , my handwriting is going from bad to worse and becoming almost illegible.
Thoughts become visible and clear when typed on screen,
I remember things better when I write them down longhand
Something very special about that physical action of writing longhand - it involves the WHOLE body , while typing tends to involve just the hands and fingers.
My typing is a lot slower than my longhand writing
I am more conscise and economical with words when I type
More passionate and creative when I write longhand,

Free association : Rainbow
@ Saturday, 04. Oct, 2008 – 19:37:42
This celestial configuration was often associated in ancient cultures as a sign of God’s goodwill. In the Bible for instance the end of the deluge is announced by a rainbow (Genesis IX, 11). In Ancient Greece, Iris, the virgin goddess, was the messenger that transmitted to the earth the orders of Zeus and Hera.
In Ancient China, the rainbow was seen as the unification of the yin and yang and was often represented as a two headed snake. Buddhism also associates the rainbow with the serpent, Buddha being portrayed as going up a ladder while resting on seven-headed snakes.
Now you take the floor: what do you associate with the rainbow?

SO ....accepting Paulo's challenge , Mira free associates on The Rainbowrain and bow

Breakfast and titters
@ Saturday, 04. Oct, 2008 – 11:13:48
Breafast is most definitely the best meal of the day.
Hardly ever changes
Eggs
Tomatoes ( passata with herb salt and a touch of honey )
A few slices of homemade bread
Coffee ( or green tea )
*bliss*
The same meal every day, but always tastes different.
Breakfast just now was particularly enjoyably yummy .I am now about to watch an hour or so of comedy - Scrubs and Till Death ... hehehehehe .

Money is not wealth
@ Saturday, 04. Oct, 2008 – 10:37:39
The way out of this financial crisis
The way out of this financial crisis is for Americans to regain more inner wealth. How is that done?
-- Reject fear and pessimism.
-- Know what your vision is and act upon it.
-- Don't blame others and seek payback when things go wrong.
-- Prosper inwardly through love, generosity, giving, and altruism.
-- Stop identifying with your salary and possessions.
-- Work for the common good whenever you can.
Why Money Is Not Wealth by Deepak Chopra
An EXCELLENT article . A must read. So inspiring and uplifting and full of common sense. -
A lull
@ Saturday, 04. Oct, 2008 – 10:06:12
Good morning Blogland,

Woke up to frost on the rooftops
Logged on to very few messages.

Are you also experiencing a lull ?Found this on Meno's blog and it does make sense .

That said , I spent all day yesterday updating my webpage and blogs changing colours, layouts, fonts and finding imaages. I get totally lost. Time whizzes by interrupted only by tummy growling and demanding to be fed.
I feel that, for me, this is an intense, creative, frustrating, inspiring, chaotic , wonderous, mystifying , baffling, puzzling, amazing and somewhat insane time !
What about you ?

We live in amazing times
@ Friday, 03. Oct, 2008 – 14:28:55
We live in amazing times.
We can build big buildings.
Invent the internet.
Send people walking across the moon.
Create fancy iphones.
Keep breasts young forever.
Manufacture vitamins to give you energy.
Formulate Viagra to keep it up.
Create drugs to combat depression to keep it Down.
We build bombs to wipe out millions in a second.
Launch 500 channels on the flat screen.
Create complex car navigation systems.
Invent new weight-loss programs.
Yet we still live in a world where children are starving!
millions are homeless.
We don't teach kids how to communicate.
We have lots of sex but don't make love.
Bigger banks accounts, but less fulfillment.
Faster cars but no time.
More options but less patience.
More education and less sense.
More technology and less touch. You can clean the air.
But the pollution is in the soul.
This is the real hole
The most important resource, isn't time, oil, money, gold.
It is love.
Without this we may have everything but
life is nothing.
So what is your life about?
So what is your life about? You can travel the world. Go to great temples, or churches to pray. You can worship the most beautiful statutes, and read the most profound scripture, yet right in front of you is a living expression of divinity.
Take a look: Your children. Your spouse. Your parents. Your brother Co-worker. The homeless person. Your friend. There is no end.
Yet we wait to meet the Dalai Lama, the great Guru or the Pope. For some kind of hope. Waiting for the right moment or special person. When right here in front of you is a living Buddha in the form of your child, or a living Christ in the form of the man that's staring at you.
The whole world is your temple, synagogue, or church.Remember, it is in your heart. This is where we must all start. In each moment is the opportunity.
At least once a day: Forgive. Reach out. Hug. Cry. Laugh. Connect.
At least once a day:
Trust. look. Sing. Dance. Make a fool of yourself. Risk.At least once a day:
Give. Touch. Taste. Smile. Wait. Communicate. At least once a day:
Smell. Relax. Joke. Feel. Yes. Serve.
And most of all say "I love you."When you dare to open your heart and love, you're free. This is living infinity.
Is there really anything else to do?
Is there really anything else to do?Love now.

GJM soul sisters meeting
@ Friday, 03. Oct, 2008 – 13:51:56
Met my soul sisters , J and G yesterday. L was out of the country so couldn't come. J's wonderful gorgonzola pasta , ruccola and pine nut salad , fresh raspberries and Hagendaz vanilla icecream and a couple of bottles of very good wine. Noone was driving. Everyone was tired but , it was a heart felt meeting, with some laughter , a great deal of sharing and empathising, feeling down and drained , but also quite a bit of reclaimed power.
Isn't it interesting how shattering news can deflate you and make you feel like a useless and helpless wet dish rag ? Floods of tears, feelings of great despair, overwhelm and helplessness and then ANGER steps in and WOOOOOSH you start to get in touch with the warrior in you. You start taking control again , reclaiming your power, back in the saddle again , as it were. Not only that , but you notice friends and loved ones rally around , making you dinner, giving their support, advice, comfort , and consolation. These gestures of goodwill spread like ripples in water. Next thing you know , a lawyer appears , a friend of a friend who has been waiting all his life for such a challenge . He becomes your knight in shining armour ready to fight for you and all the injustices of the downtrodden and bullied. There are still people like that around. Hope and optimism reappear. This is not a made-up story either. 'Tis true.
J's father's funeral is next Thursday at 14:00. In Stockholm We shall be there for her.
Meeta'sfuneral is on 26th October in Partille near Gothenburg. Never been there while Meeta was alive. Odd how we make that special effort for funerals.Must find out how to get there. Gothenburg is about 3-5 hours away by train.
In other news , the sun is shining and the workmen are on their lunch break. Peace and quiet reigns again. Happy Friday , everyone !

Recharging batteries
@ Thursday, 02. Oct, 2008 – 14:57:59
Literally.
Yes I know they're out of focus .. that's why I need to recharge them
Meanwhile , all that digging and work going on outside my window is making a heck of a racket. I can't hear myself think.
But , the orange pipes or cables make a pretty pattern , don't they ? Design is everywhere.
Part of this work will mean that we get our own high speed internet in Sundbyberg.

@ Thursday, 02. Oct, 2008 – 13:44:21
My day start with a shower and that first shower is usually is filled with inspiration. As I stand there enjoying all that lovely water caressing and cascading over me , washing away the night, I feel deep appreciation love and gratitude for ths water , clean H2O , on tap.
Nowadays when I meditate on water, I think of Dr Masaru Emoto and his amazing work .
Today I found this

I so believe this stuff. It really works, you just have to shut out the negative thoughts. Have you googled Mike Dooley. If not, then do it NOW. He is a great guy and really made a difference to me. Join the Adventurers Club it is a blast... x
