So, what's been happening here in my absence ;) ?

Back ...

after midnight last night and I need a holiday now. Hundreds of emails and a to-do list a mile long.

Did laundry this morning *checks off one item*

Yesterday was a very long day. Accompanied mum to her doctor's appointment in the morning taking luggage with me not knowing how long things would take. You often have to wait for ages and with my bus to Manchester Airport leaving at 13:30 didn't know if we could get home in between, but we did. Taxis there and back

Mum needs a hip replacement and will see a specialist in 6 week's time to talk things through. She's a brave and feisty 84 year old lady but scared silly of operations and needles.

Anyway , I got back after midnight last night and it will probably take me a while to catch up, so please bare with me and oh the Wedding was FAB A really joyful beautiful event.

The pic below is very much like what I saw when I looked out of the window as the plane was landing last night . Beautiful midsummer solstice colours.

lovely photo, glad you got back safe and sound. The new hip will give your mum a new lease of life so is well worth the op. Glad the wedding was fab, don't worry bout catching up on here too much, there is always so much to do when you get back anyway. xxx

Welcome home, hope 'mom's hip replacement surgery finds her pain free and soon able to move about. My mother had both hips replaced and continued to drive her vehicle criss-crossing North America for years to come before her eventual demise from Lateral Sclerosis. Which, btw, had nothing to do with her hipness.

  Mum is not in pain until she gets up and is walking around and then it is stabbing pains in the groin

  Mum was glad I came with her, but she doesn't half boss me around. People tell me I am patient , but being with my mum is an advanced course in patience training....she can be really trying

Glad to see you back - though I know the post-holiday feeling and chores does sometimes make you wonder why we go away. Not the same in your case - I bet your mum really appreciated having you on hand. Operations are daunting at any age, let alone at 84.

It would be hard to imagine a more perfect midsummer solstice than we've had
