Darkness all day long.
Not much daylight.
Don't feel like doing anything.
Sorted the laundry out and did the dishes
Alexander phoned to invite me round for tea tomorrow.
Phones and broadband working
I'm taking things easy today, snacking on left overs and watching TV.
Nothing much to say -I'm very much in a state of semi hibernation.
Two things have caught my attention as I browsed the net earlier :
Irshad -Manji and THE CHARTER FOR COMPASSION. No direct connection there, but these two things belong together I think.
Firstly the woman named Irshad - Manji - who appears to be controversial. An activist, loved and hated. Yes, she generalises, but she also speaks from the heart and what she says resonates with me. Surely a religion or belief that is strong and sound stands up to criticism ? Irshad Manji is really stirring things up and I believe , a breath or fresh air. I admire her courage as she constantly receives death threats for what she says and writes. These days it doesn't seem to be politically correct to critcise or have strong opinions about religion.

Irshad Manji (born 1968) is a Canadian feminist, author, journalist and activist. Manji is Director of the Moral Courage Project at New York University. The Moral Courage Project aims to teach young leaders to speak truth to power in their own communities. Manji is openly lesbian.
The second thing, which is also important this day and age is Compassion,
THE CHARTER FOR COMPASSION

As important as it is to bring the world together , a certain amount of stirring up is probably necessary for change to take place.
Everything has a place and there is a place for everything ![]()

She did really well. She was a little nervous before we got there.
When the instructress told her to just hold the pony for a moment, her little face lit up and I knew it was going to be ok.

Yes.
I used to love my pony riding lessons, my Dad used to take me over to the riding school every Saturday morning and my friend at School had horses and we were always out on them. Both sides of my family are fond of horses, and when we used to visit family in Ireland I used to ride with my cousins almost every day. Mr S likes them but never really got on with riding and Moff enjoyed pony rides but never wanted to do it on a regular basis so I haven't done it myself for years, so it is nice for me to be around horses again, it is taking all my will not to book a ride myself, but after breaking my ribs falling down the stairs a few years back I KNOW it might not be the wisest thing for a plump middleaged woman to do again.

It's been quite bright today after a stormy night. Managed to hand out two washloads (I took pity on my daughter and brought some washing back to Chez Moi!)
Relax and have a lovely evening

Nice to have a sunny day
It's been years since I hung washing out to dry on th line - it's all tumble dried. Back in Bradford we had to be really quick and bring it in at first signs of rain.
It's been a lovely relaxing day - hope you are enjoying yours too

The natural way is always the best.
I was thinking about how we use electricity to cook food and how different it is cooking over an open fire

What a great post.
I'm glad I came out of my hibernation to find you!
The world remains full of stark contrasts, doesn't it?
